I am Pleased to find this Site as I have Many Fond Memory's of My Experience & People Stationed there that I Worked For/With: T/Sgt Robinson, A/2c Rauol Cone, A/3c John Bower and My Roommate, Mike Reyes. Memory lapse over-time doesnt remember Other name's.
I found the Area Beautiful & Friendly, Never to be Forgotten.
I would enjoy hearing from other's.

MessageNice site to look at again. Great to see Sawyer. I was stationed there in 12969 with the 69th MMS Munitions Squadron. Anyone remember Rosies' Pizzaria? Great people up there and I believe I remember a place called the Clifton Manor. Not sure....been a log time.

MessageDid lots of reserve active duty here, 1988-1995. Stayed many times in terrific guest quarters. It was a real shame that the BRAC folks opted to close, rather than re-use this recently built base for upcoming AF missions. Or at least mothball it rather than kill it.

MessageWas at KI 1964-66 in 410 CDS as a 2nd lt.Still called Air Police when I got there but think it may have changed to Security Police before I left. Capt Legg Sq CO. Lt Watts in Base police. CMSGT Janek really ran the show and a good guy. Got married and lived at 510 Gooney Bird. A good two years. Moved on to Lackland as an OTS insturctor.Got back to the closed base 2006 and glad to see it again, 40 years later.

MessageI was stationed at K.I. from 1961-1963.Worked as a crewchief on B-52s. It was my first assignment right out of tech school.Iwas reassigned to Travis A.F.B. Boy was that a bummer. I really enjoyed the U.P.and haited to leave.Left my first love in Ishpeming. Hope to get back there soon.

MessageRetired in 1988. I spent eleven yrs at K.I., assigned to the 410 CSG, 410 BW, 410 FMS and finally 200l Com Sq. NCOIC Orderly Room. Bob Vick was my supervisor as well as Tgard. I visit K.I at least once a year with sadden eyes of what remains. Looking forward to hearing from old friends.
