| Message | I was stationed at Sawyer from 1981 to 1992 with the 410th Security Police Squadron. It would be nice to hear from any SP's out there that remember the base. I'll be touring the U.P. this summer (July) and plan to see the base and the museum. |

| Message | Hey to all the Red Bulls!! I was stationed at K.I. Sawyer, in the 87th from '76-84. My first aircraft as DCC was 59-0032. Took over 59-0094 and that was the aircraft I had the most fun with. Later on I was put on 59-0102 after it lost it drop tank in flight causing much damage to the wing and tail. Less then 30 days later 102 was flying again. My son graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2001. Get this, he went to Laughlin AFB, Texas, for pilot training where he became a "Red Bull" with the 87th TFTS. He graduated with top honors in all areas. He is an A-10 pilot and spent 2 tours in Afghanistan. He now trains other pilots on the A-10 down at Tusan, AZ at Davis-Monthan AFB I live in Sands Mi. right here on M-553, a short drive to see the, great looking F-106 static display. They all did a great job on her!!!  Went to see her alone with my wife and I couldn't help from tearing up as I walked around her!! I spent 10+ years working on the F-106. My first duty station was with the 84th FIS at Castle AFB in Ca. for 2 years. Hope to see many of you at the 2008 reunion!! God Bless to all!!! Hooter!!! |

| Message | I was stationed at K.I. Sawyer from May 1961 to July 1965. I was in OMS of the 4042nd Strat wing, later the 410 Bomb Wing (heavy).We got the first plane in August 1961. It was 60-024,The pride of the upper penninsula. Then we started getting more planes, and I was assigned to 60-036 and 60-042. I started as a single stipper and worked up to crew chief. I was proud to have served in SAC.  |

| Message | I arrived at KI Sawyer Jan 12, 1963, departed Oct 14, 1966. I was in the 410th Combat Defence Sqd. We provided all security for the base. To me it was a Hell Hole, several nights I didn't think I would make it to morning. We walked around the planes in all weather. I seen 42 below with 50K winds in the winter. Summer was the other end of the scale air temp over 98 degrees, ramp a lot hotter. A lot of AWOL's, self inflicted gun shots, missing toes, just to get off the ramp! Not a nice place for people who had to stay outside 8-12 hours a day. I went back for a visit in Aug 05. The place is wasting away, all building falling apart. A shame.... |
