Which Family Line?SHERMAN
Was my information helpful?Yes
MessageHello,
I found your site very interesting as my husband is a descendant of James Henry Sherman who was brother to Edgar Norton Sherman, first husband of Almira Trumbull(Sherman) Goucher. In looking at the photos of Almira I am wondering if the picture of her in old age is maybe Annis Rose Sherman her mother-in law? I have read excerpts from the Bonnie Alderman's book on the James Henry Sherman line and, I am sorry to say, they are not at all accurate. Happy to hear from you or anyone interested in this line.

MessageMy line is actually thru Robert Owens a relative of Thomas Owens. Robert's wife died in childbirth and hence delayed his trip to Oregon with Thomas. Robert and daughters came in the 1845 wagon train. Unfortunatly, Robert was killed in a land dispute in 1846. Because of his death, Thomas took the daughters, Ellen (my great, great, grandmother)and Catherine in. Ellen Married Horace Minor, hence the connection. I haven't been able to find out much about Robert or his wife Ellen ?. The MINOR line is thru Thomas MInor and Grace Palmer. Thanks, Ron

Which Family Line?Ball
Was my information helpful? Both No and Yes
MessageHi Barb
Unfortunately, I did not find my Jamestown/Dunkirk NY Ball - Palmer connection on your website, your website was still very impressive to comment on. I hope to soon organize a web site for my genealogy work and I just wanted to say again that I was impressed. The seperate link to cemetery pages caught my attention, as that is a valuable aid to locating family and non family members. Most of my Ball relations lived near Cassadaga, Fredonia, Dunkirk and a little township called Arkwright. My oldest known Ball ancestor was John Ball, originally from Vermont, born around 1794. Moved to Western NY in the 1820s and died in 1863. A side note, I accidentially came across a newspaper article, announcing the death of his son, that most of the family didn't even know about. He moved to Michigan in the 1840s and died early 1862. While the newspaper didn't indicate a state or a city where he was buried, I recognized the Todd Town cemetery name ... which is only a hour away from my home in Lansing MI. My researched uncovered a missing or forgotten son from our family history. As it relates back to your website, I'm just looking for clues and answers are found just about anywhere. Thanks for making your family records available on the web. Kurt Wanamaker, Lansing MI
