MessageI worked at an office in Derby Lane between 1975 and 1981.

I was fascinated by the pictures of the old Fire Station.

You say it was taken over by The Probation Service in 2006. I think there is a mistake it was already functioning as a Probation Office and Day Centre for The probation Service when I was first there.

Thanks for some great memories. Just a quick look now, I remember quite a few folk from those days. I don't see Mrs Salt's Fish and Chip shop on one of the corners going away from Prescott Road on the Right Hand side of Derby Lane towards the Conservative Club opposite.

MessageLove the website, just wish it would answer some of my questions, like why was an iron moulder from Glasgow living here maybe with his second wife Ann Turnbull, prior to marrying in Glasgow in April, 1868. John Wallace was born in Glasgow, (c 1830) but for some reason was living in Salisbury Street, Old Swan, West Derby prior to his maybe third marriage to Ann Thomson (nee Shearer). Was there a steel works near Salisbury Street in the 1860's?
