Shawn Tomkins was a great trainer and really seemed to care about his fighters. I will truly miss seeing him and hearing him outside the cage. My condolences to his family and his fighters.

As a fan of mixed martial arts, and someone who has also lost a loved one earlier this year, I would just like to express my sympathies to the family of Shawn Tompkins. This man clearly lived his life to the fullest and made it his mission to make other fighters better. It takes a special person to be a coach. God bless the Tompkins family.

I have been a HUGE fan of mma for years now and i always enjoyed watching the fighters you trained. I saw you in Portland and remember how cool it was seeing the coach's that got Randy ready! One thing that sticks out to me about you was how positive you seemed and how your words kept fighters believing in themselves! I think back to the Aldo vs Hominick fight when you were screaming "your the best, your a champion!" You were a great ambassador of the sport! Thanks for the memories...R.I.P. "THE COACH"

My prayers go out to family & friends. I don't know him personally other than what I seen on television. He came across as wonderful person & reminded me of friends that support me. He is in a better place now & will always be in your hearts.

Deepest sympathy to the Tompkins family, met Shawn here in Mexico and I can say he was a great guy, totally down to earth and very friendly. Even though we met once it stings to know that he is gone, since he has been a great mentor for many fighters, the MMA world has lost a good man.

My condolenses to Shawn's family and closest friends. Losing someone close is very tragic and heartbreaking. Just know you are not alone at this time. There are many feeling your sorrow and are here for support. I am an over the top fan of the sport of mixed martial arts and it is a horrible loss for the fans, fighters and sport. He was a great ambassador that cannot be replaced but remembered as if he never left and is still here in spirit. I've never met him personally but I have always looked up to him because I could tell he was a man who was genuine and cared for those around him. My heart goes out to Team Tompkins and his family. God be with you.

I remember when I joined Shawn's kickboxing class in Tillsonburg (back in the early years), he lived in the loft of his gym. He would say with an easy smile "I'm here all the time anyway", but you knew it was his level of dedication; every penny he had, was invested in his love of the MMA world and bringing as many people into it as he could. I believe that part of the secret of Shawn's success as a coach: his level of commitment and his ability to bring out the best in you, he made you want to live up to his gyms motto "Go Big or Go Home" no matter how rough your day was or how lousy you felt, you knew after a two hour class of kickboxing and sparring in the ring, you were going to leave feeling on top of the world. I feel fortunate to have trained with him and known him. My condolences to his wife Emilie, his family of fighters, his family and friends, the world has lost a great man.

RIP Shawn.
I will never forget the time you invited me to Tapout with Em. You took time out of your day even asking some prospective sponsers to hold tight while you introduced me to Vitor and Kevin and walked me through the gym. Going to hover dam with us even though you were super busy. You were such a gracious host and even though we knew each other for quite a while it wasn't till then I truly appreciated your kindness. I have a true respect for you.
Miranda and I are willing to do whatever we can for Em, whatever she needs we'll be there.
