MessageIt is with deep sadness and respect that I write this.
I am one if the officials with the OAC and first met him on April 2nd, 2011 at the 1st MMA event in Ontario. I was the equipment judge for Chris Horidecki. Shawn was respectful and handled himself exceptionally that night.
The next time I saw him it was at UFC 129. I was assigned to Aldo and after the fight, in the medical area, he came up to me, shook my hand.
I saw Shawn at the MMA event last Saturday. I was judging and after one of the fights I looked over and saw him. He nodded, I nodded.

I never thought that would be the last time I saw him.

Shawns passing, at such a young age, has made me want to be better...

A better man, dad, son, teacher, trainer, official, martial artist, husband, and a person...

MessageI have been an avid listener to MMA Junkie radio for about three years and a big MMA fan. My heart sank when I heard the announcement Sunday. I enjoyed Shawn's input to the show and always looked for him and his fighters when they fought. I send prayers and condolences to his family and hope that your wounds with heal with time. Yours Truly, Marty, Cleveland, Ohio.

MessageI had the pleasure of knowing Shawn early on when the rise of Team Tompkins began. I trained with the team for a couple of years and spent time getting to know Shawn and other members for the team.
It has been years since I have seen him, but I was saddened when I heard the news and wanted to send my support to Shawn's immediate and extended family.

MessageI had the good fortune to train with Coach Tompkins this past January. It was one of the better experiences of my martial arts career.

Shawn was warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable. As an MMA coach and instructor myself, he gave me some great tips on how to teach, inspire, and relate to my students.

The Coach was so easy to get along with, and so obviously cared about what he did, that I wish I could have trained with him more and gotten to know him better. The MMA world has lost one of its greats, and the world has lost a good man.

My deepest condolences to Shawn Tompkins' family and friends. May he be well remembered.
