MessageHi Joan...Just finished your book 'This Organic Life' and enjoyed it very much. Your eat local way of farming your back yard makes so much sense and reflects many of the ways my family farms. Being a first generation Netherlander I really related to your 'Dutch' fastidiousness....cracked me up!!

Keep up the good work....John e

MessageHi Joan, I just bought Michael Pollan's excellent "In Defence of Food" wherein he writes "The first time I heard the advice to 'just eat food' it was in a speech by Joan Gussow..."

This brought back memories of Alan visiting me when you were both in Tasmania many years ago. I made us a pot of vegetable soup from produce hastily harvested from my garden and he declared it the "best fast food he had ever eaten".

While I prepared a poster for the conference you were attending in Hobart, I did not attend. I've always been much happier in my garden than among crowds. Hoping you are well and still enjoying growing and eating real food.

MessageJoan
I just finished your book growing older. I thank you for sharing your feelings about your husband's passing, It is the first reality I have read or felt since ny own husband's death. Your ability to bravely say how you feel is refreshing, I can say with certainty when people ask how ARE you I can say fine and not feel guilt in that. I had a 35 year marriage that was very fulfilling and allowed much growth. Now tho reading your book has opened up the real possibilities I have in my life, not new life just MY life. I send this as I look at the Hudson River where I too find pure joy in the sun rise and sun set. OH what will life bring....... smilie debi Marroon

MessageHi Joan
I will keep it sweet and short. I heard you speak on the radio and loved what you had to say. I am a social worker in NZ working with stroke patients and have for such a long time stated: "it's all about food and the processing of" etc etc. Are there any organizations/lobby groups already up and running in NZ to open up this whole can of worms? I look forward to hearing from you
