I think that if you are being held there under force of intimidation that it is more than unfair, it is flat out rude and disrespectful. i hope you are doing ok and i hope you know that there are a ton of people that are worried about you and are only wishing you the best so with that in mind i hope you know that people do care. and they do think you should be able to be open with your family without them trying to send you away, you did nothing wrong, all that happened is that your family found out more about you, you didn't change, you are still the same person. | Message | One more thing Bryce, A famous Christian singer who I actually knew and liked from when I was younger recently came out as gay. His name is Ray Boltz. Don't know if you've heard of him, but I imagine it's likely. He's not some small time guy either; he is extremely well-known in the Christian community. Anyway, I know that if I knew he was gay when I was younger, it would have helped me a lot to have a role model like that, especially since I am really into music and singing, so I hope you will read about him. Ray Boltz released a song called "Don't Tell Me Who to Love," which is about acceptance of gay people and allowing us to marry, and it compares our current laws with laws against interracial marriage before the 70's. The second verse and chorus are: "Maybe you’re in love today and you’ve been making wedding plans But there is someone in your way shouting things cause they don’t understand The judge says that’s not legal, the preacher calls it a sin Oh you just remember they were wrong before and they’re wrong again Don’t tell me who to love, don’t tell me who to kiss Don’t tell me that there’s something wrong because I feel like this I know what’s in my heart, that should be enough Don’t tell me, don’t tell me no, don’t tell me who to love." No matter what they tell you, it IS possible to be gay and to be a Christian, even a world famous Christian singer. |

| Message | Dear Bryce: Like everyone else here, I hope you are ok. I hope they are not getting to you, although going to a conservative church almost every week since I can remember, I know how emotionally confusing and hurtful the things they say can be. I hope every day that your decision to go there in the first place was made with the intent to ignore everything they try to tell you, and that as soon as you know you can, you will walk out. Although I have never been in your situation, I know how difficult it can be to take a stand, especially against people who claim to know God and who take advantage of your deepest faith and turn it against you to make money (lots of money) and to achieve their own ends rather than taking your best interests to heart. Travis is keeping his promise to stay strong for you one million times over. Unfortunately, you have to stay strong too. We can do everything humanly possible out here to get you to the gate, but we can't make you walk through it and back into the real world. So, if you can read this, find that strength inside you, and walk yourself out of that prison. There is so much out here waiting for you, and you can have it without ridiculous, unconscionable, and impossible conditions. Most of all, remember that God loves you just the way you are, and that no man on this earth knows God any better than you. |
