MessageI found your story about growing up in Pirtleville enlightening. My father George Gonzales was born there and he grew up there on Grace St. He told me many stories that were like what you wrote. Thanks for the memories.

MessageI received the following message regarding my story, "Meet Me At The Allstar Club".

"Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Meet Me At The All Star Club - Table of Contents":

I think you have overstepped your boundaries. You have used the real names of people and berated them by laughing at them. These people have familes that are living and to laugh at them is just plain cruel. You fail to mention or bring out your colorful family's lifestyle. I am surpised you have'nt been sued because I don't think you asked for permission to use real names. I will be taking your little blog to my attorney you may be liable for a defemation of character lawsuit.

Firstly, my apologies to anyone who is offended by my story. I tried very hard to tell a painful story about my growing up years in a very difficult little town in a humorous sort of way but there is no way to cover up a painful experience. Life is cruel and bad things happen to people. Lots of bad things happened to me and to those around me at that time.

Lastly, I am sorry that the offended person did not identify themselves as it has prevented me from making a personal apology.

MessageBorn in Douglas, graduated in 62 with Pat Velasco from Croco. Last time I saw him he was at Portal working for the Forest Dept.. Started my teaching career in Douglas and later came back many years as
Associate Superintendent where I had many wonderful visits to the elementary school in Croco, which is now a brand new one.

Love your work. Happy new year.
