MessageHi George,

Sorry to bother you again, but I noticed you’re linking to eBooks.com for your book - "The Complete Idiot’s Guide to String Theory",and I wanted to suggest Chegg as an option to rent the book at a much discounted price. It’s also very likely that we will be carrying it in eTextbook format shortly too, in case they want to price compare.

Chegg not only sells cheap books and ebooks but we also rent them too, which saves students a significant amount of money each year. We even launched a new eReader to promote an interactive eBook experience for students, while at the same time lessening our dependence on paper books. With a brand new eReader app and an extensive eBook catalogue, Chegg has become a significant contributor to the eBook revolution.

It would be great if you could include a link to our site as well since Chegg has a considerably massive (and loyal) following.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about Chegg.

Thanks!

MessageHi George,
I've enjoyed your postings at SA and applaud you for your scientific approach--bucking the utility's nay-saying about instability solar power may bring.
Please consider posting of our free analytical tool at pvwizard(dot)com. We built it so that people without monitoring can keep an eye on the performance of their solar investment. Please check it out. At this point the World is losing $5B worth of electricity from all factors affecting solar arrays, much of it can be helped if known.
Thanks, and have a great sunny day!

MessageI liked "Entanglement the Movie", but it got me wondering.

If you entangled two clocks displaying the month, date and year and sent one at light speed to Alpha Centuri and back. What date(s) would appear on the clocks?

I didn't read this somewhere so I'm not playing gotcha or anything like that.

Best regards,

Steve

MessageHi George,
A friend told me of your article in the new SciAm issue on Time and suggested I contact you. For a fresh new philosophical view/expose of our beliefs in time, please try the Time Out! series of Youtubes which you can find on Youtube or at Consciousness Is All dot com. Start with Time Out #1, and if that gets your attention you can go from there.

Thanks!
Peter

MessageGeorge,

I have just read your Scientific American article from last September on Free Will.

I expect that you will write a lot more on this question in the future, so I would like to send you a copy of my book researching the history of the problem of free will from ancient times to the present. I hope it can provide you with a lot of background material - perhaps for an Idiot's Guide to Free Will?.

Like you, I am an astronomer by training. We might have a lot in common to talk about.

Please email me with your address in New Jersey.

And please take a look at my website - informationphilosopher.com..

There you will find a copy of my book's chapters as PDFs.

Cheers,

Bob

MessageHi,

I read with interest your article about the retreat of the glaciers. You mention and show a photo of the Perito Moreno glacier to illustrate the elusive blue color. I would live to e-mail you a photo I took earlier this year at a glacier on the Chilean side of the Andes which shows that color much more dramatically. That glacier, the Grey glacier which is the southern tip of the great Southern Ice Field has been retreating noticeably since I had last visited it in 1996.
Regards,
Pedro

MessageWhere does E= Mc^2 come from?
In 1905 Einstein asked:
Does the inertia of a body depend upon its energy content?
The answer was:
Yes, it depends on its energy E= Mc^2
So, Einstein said - E= Mc^2 comes from inertia
2
In 1928 Dirac said - E= Mc^2 comes from vacuum
and can be as positive as negative too
3
Sometimes E= Mc^2 can be ‘rest’ particle and
sometimes can be ‘active’ and can destroy cities like
Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Why E= Mc^2 is so strange ?
Nobody gives answer

MessageSource of Consciousness

Does electron have consciousness ?
Molecular biology & molecular evolution
Cosmology & cosmic evolution
If Universe evolve can electron evolve too ?
Does evolution of life begin on electron level ?
Origin of life is a result of physical laws that govern Universe
Electron takes important part in this work
Question
Why does the simplest particle - electron have six formulas:
E=h*f e = +ah*c e = -ah*c +E=Mc^2 -E=Mc^2 E= ∞ ?
Nobody knows
Electron is not as simple as we think
