MessageHi guys, one night way back about 76ish,after a night in the pub with our birds,me and a certain Martin Michael Terence O'Neill took them to a chinese resturaunt in Hamilton for a meal which was really an excuse for more drink.
Martin and I both went to the loo,and whilst pissing everywhere except into the urinal we spontaneously burst into a medley of SAHB songs which must have lasted a good 10 mins, anyway one of the waiters was sent in to fetch us out and when we staggered back to our table everyone in the resturaunt rose to their feet and gave us a standing ovation, much to the embarassment of our birds (I ended up marrying mine)
The manager came over with a bottle of Blue Nun and thanked us for "entertaining" his customers.
It's just one of these silly things that you tend to remember,my wife and I have been married 30years now and she often repeats the tale to my sons and to my friends,so it is obviously a fond memory for her as well. Why she married a tone deaf, drunken bum I'll never know, I can only assume it was because she liked SAHB.
My sons and I go to your Xmas gigs in Glasgow every year and we all agree that the last one was
the best ever.
Keep being SENSATIONAL.
Cheers and thanks for ALL the great memories. smilie

MessageSaw the band in 1974, just digitized several of the old vinyls I had. Nothing better than a trip down memory lane with Alex and SAHB.

MessageAlex was a great influence on me and my music. About 7 years ago, I flew to Scotland and went to the Govan Town Hall, where, according to Fodor's Rock and Roll Great Britain, there is a plaque in honour of Alex. Lo and behold, when I got there, I searched and searched for a long time to find it. The caretaker told me that it was nicked about a month before I got there. I was not too upset though, I was able to visit not too far from where Alex grew up.
That was a great honour for me, as is signing this book. Alex was a great influence on my music as much as Chris was on my bass playing.
To the new S.A.H.B., I wish you much success and hopefully a tour to the states, especially Cleveland, Ohio, where Alex and the boys always had a large following.
I have many pics of Alex that were taken by Janet Macoska, another Clevelander. And as a side note, the first concert I ever went to was to see Alex at the Cleveland Agora. I was underage, but managed to sneak in. I was mesmorised. I was never the same after that. Thank you Alex and thank you band. I am so glad to see you carrying on.
Happy New Years!!!
Cheers!!!!!!!!
