MessageWhen James Frain appeared in "The Tudors" his face was quite familiar, as he's done so many projects, both here, and in the U.K.
His portrayal of Thomas Cromwell was one of the best I've seen.
Glad I googled and discovered this site ! Very good, I might add.
Thank you. smilie smilie smilie

MessageRuth-Elizabeth, I completely agree with you about the scene where Henry reads The Six Articles. That scene was amazing and is probably my favorite Cromwell scene in the series...which is saying a lot, for there are so many awesome Cromwell scenes. But, in that particular scene he says so much with just his expressions and eyes. Spoken words could not have conveyed more. It was mesmerizing. The last two episodes of season 3 are pure Frain magic, You'll grow to care for Cromwell even more, and, since you know the history, I don't think it's giving much away to say ep 8 will break your heart.

MessageJust looking for info. on James Frain online and found your site - a good one!

I am extremely keen on History and the Tudors (particularly Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I). I usually stick to books, but have been watching Series 3 of The Tudors on the BBC I-Player and have been INCREDIBLY struck by the magnificent work of James Frain. He was terrific in Elizabeth as the Spanish Ambassador but, here, he is a revelation. He is the first actor, among many, who has made me feel sympathy for Sir Thomas Cromwell.

As an actress myself, I was in awe of his performance - in particular, the scene where Henry VIII read out the new statutes of the Church of England. Frain portrayed beautifully the rage, frustration and distress (that Cromwell MUST have felt at this point), and struggling to control it under a veneer of acceptance that would keep him in the King's favour. Truly exceptional work.

The fact that he is incredibly handsome too is just a bonus smilie hehehe! I hope that Mr. Frain goes on to do lots of enjoyable things in his future. In our current world of 'throwaway' 'stars', he is one who truly DESERVES his success - and long may he have it.

With best wishes,

Ruth-Elizabeth. x

MessageI think James Frain's performance as Thomas Cromwell in The Tudors (especially in that last episode *sobs*) is some of the finest acting I've ever seen!

If he doesn't win that award, it's a traversty!

MessageI'd just like to say how much I enjoy reading your fansite, and that I appreciate the work you put into it to find all these lovely goodies! I'd love to see JF in a leading role in something mega - like a TV series than runs for 10 seasons or a blockbuster film - but then if everybody knew about him, it might not be so much fun eh?

Keep up the good work!! smilie
