Thanks so much for a lovely website. I am an ardent fan of Helene Hanff's 84 Charing Cross Road, and also the movie starring Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins. This website makes it possible to relive memories of that wonderful, poignant book and movie. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for this site..I enjoyed it immensely! It was so nice to read about, and see pictures of, the people I have taken to heart since reading Miss Hanff's lovely book. This is a very charming story that has touched many hearts. I re-read the book and her other ones each year. One day I hope to get to the UK and see the site for myself.
I FIND THIS WHOLE CONCEPT FASCINATING. I HAVE READ THE BOOK, PLUS SOME OTHERS BY MS. HANFF, HAVE THE ORIGINAL BBC AUDIO TAPE, AND A THEATRE PROGRAMME FROM A LONDON PRODUCTION. I AM CURRENTLY LISTENING TO THE TAPE AGAIN.
THIS IS FAR MORE INTERESTING THAN MANY MODERN STORIES AND I REGULARLY READ THE INTERNET ON THE SUJECT. I CANNOT PUT IT DOWN AS THEY SAY.

I stumbled across this movie just after it started, very late one night about 15 years ago. I didn't know what it was called, and I don't think I learned its title for another few years. I was captivated - by the particular setting in New York, by the story, by Anne Bancroft. I tend to prefer movies that focus on ideas rather than action, story and visual construction rather than excitement and excess. Watching this one was like walking with a new friend for a a while, able to be part of a lovely story for that time. I have not seen it since then, but for some reason have never been able to let go of it. Poignant and lovely, gently full of great, good truths.

Thank you for creating such a wonderful website! I agree with Mark Harwood. It would be such a good thing if the bookshop were opened again. I'd visit London for the event and no longer procrastinate about going.

Brilliant web site and such a wonderful book. It would be nice to know what happened to Nora and her family, especially as they feature even more in the Duchess of Bloomsbury Street. Would be great if they opened 84 as a book shop again.
