MessageMR. Vaughn, 3 years ago in December, me and my then girlfriend (now wife) were on our way to DC from VA Beach to watch a Capitals game, and made it a point to stop and see your wonderful display of lights. We now have a 17 month old boy and a little girl on the way. This weekend as i put up the Christmas lights on our house, we talked and reminisced like we do every year about how amazing and beautiful your light display was, and how we hope one day in the near future we can bring our children to Collingwood Rd and experience the same joy and happiness that we did from seeing your lights. We wish you happiness and health, and hope that you get well soon. From my family to yours... MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

MessageThere is nothing grand or glorious about getting old. It is an ongoing struggle and tug of war between the brain and the body over what challenges can be taken on physically, how much pain can continue to be endured to reach a goal and when is it finally time to surrender. I will not be doing my lights this year. I'm just not up to it. My hope is that this will not be the end of Collingwood Lights but just a break and that after several planned surgeries and successful rehab. we will be back in 2017. Until then, I'm sorry for any disappointment and I hope all that read this will pass the information on.

MessageI'm sorry you're in pain. If you can't do it next year we all understand, just get better. If you wanted to be the foreman I'm sure you could have many volunteers that would be happy to help. Feel better and happy holidays!!

MessageBill, if anyone deserves a break, it's you. What a great gift you have given us all for so many years. Best wishes on the coming surgeries and recovery.

If the lights come back another year, that's great. If not, you left thousands of people with a sense of wonder and a marvelous gift. That is far more than most of us could say for ourselves. Well done, friend. Take a much needed physical and mental break and the next year will unroll however it will.

Thanks again for everything. We all owe you a debt of gratitude.

MessageHi Bill-

I'm sorry to hear you are under the weather and I wish you a peaceful 2017. You have brought so much joy to the community over the years. Is there something we can do to help repay some of what you've given us? Is it possible the community can help with the lights?

Thanks.
Heather

MessageI'm so sorry to hear your health is not so well and that you are unable to put up your wonderful lights. (is it too much for a crew that sets up lights to do for you?) We saw them about 4 years ago and had planned on bringing family with us to see them this year so I'm glad I saw your post. Best of luck with your surgery & rehab and hoping 2017 is better for you. Crossing my fingers for the lights for next year!

MessageWe've enjoyed this display for several years now. It's just wonderful! Will you be lighting it up again this year?
