MessageDear Mr. Vaughan,Thank you for all the many years you have shared your lights with all of us. I remember back when you were in your little house with NOEL in lights on the roof. I remember taking a photo of your lights and sending it to a friend's child who was stationed in the middle east to remind him of home. I remember driving my heartbroken niece (she and her husband had divorced; he had custody of their child; he was on the east coast, and my niece lived on the west coast. I had invited her for Christmas) by your house to cheer her up- her ex and her child then came to visit my niece at my home. My niece took them to your house to sit and watch the lights. They started talking, and they remarried several months later (and are still married over ten years now). In 2015 and 2016 I took my Mother on rides by your home. She had dementia and did not get to do many things, but sitting in the car and watching your lights made her happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the wonderful memories you gave us all. You have blessed us all with a tremendous gift. So rest and heal and cherish the memory of the great joy you have given all of us. If you never do your lights again, SMILE and be happy when you think about them. They were a JOYOUS event and a gift so many of us enjoyed!!!!
THANK YOU!!

MessageI haven’t posted in forever, not because decorating hasn’t been on my mind, It has been pretty much all I have thought about these last 7 or 8 months. I haven’t posted because of my fear of the finality of what I need to say. With Dec. 1st and Collingwood Lights traditional light up right around the corner I really can’t put this off any longer. Due to health I will not be doing my display this year. As for the future, I have come to terms with the fact that this December will be dark but I just can’t bring myself to say 2018 was our last, I just can’t.
I want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement over these many years. I feel blessed. I have so many memories that span the last 25+ years, the smiles, the laughter, the kid’s squeals and the joy of knowing it was of my doing. Collingwood Lights truly was my Christmas present to myself. I will cherish those memories for the rest of my life and as my wife has reminded me more than once, if 2018 was indeed Collingwood Lights swan song what a way to turn off the lights!

Warmest Regards,
Bill Vaughan

MessageMr. Vaughan,
Got to thinking about Christmas light displays and the first that came to mind was yours, so I pulled up this site to see when it would be starting. My husband and I saw it about 10 years ago at the recommendation of friends who live in Alexandria and we brought our daughters by last Christmas to see it - both times it just took my breath away and put tears in my eyes!
Reading that you aren't able to put up the display this year - I am very sorry to hear of your health problems and will pray for your recovery. I remain hopeful that your health improves and that next year you will be able to put it up - have you considered advertising for volunteers to help out? We live in Montgomery County, MD so not right around the corner, but would bet there would be a great turn out of volunteers in the area.
Thank you for the incredible light show and memories from seeing it - we were blessed by your generosity! God bless you

MessageThank you for all the joy over the past 25 or so years. I most certainly understand if it has gotten to be too much. Thank you again for the Christmas Treat and I love the story of how it got started. I stopped by and met you one year as you were cleaning up in February.

God Bless.
