| Message | Last week when I took my youth group to the Fuse, one of my teens asked why the station was called the Fuse. The answer came from the station's tag line, "where music and life come together." The name was explained in the context of the station's mission being to play music that relates to people and relates to where people are in life. Whether a person is seeking ("Jesus Loves You" , a person is serving ("Give Me Your Eyes" , a person is struggling ("One More Night" , or wherever else a person may find themselves, the Fuse was seeking to relate to that and to encourage people to be totally sold out to Christ.
Now the question I am forced to ask is, how do singing cucumbers, tomatoes, and asparagus relate to my life? How do they relate to the lives of my teens? How do they communicate the Gospel message? Sure, they may have a positive message, but do they help bring people to Christ? Can they help lead to a relationship that keeps people out of hell?
As a Christian, I understand that as imperfect people we all make mistakes, and I realize I am called to be forgiving, just as we are forgiven in Christ. However, I am struggling with extending that forgiveness to the Fuse. I feel that you have let me down, let my teens down, and am very disappointed. If you truly feel this is where God is leading the station (which I have a hard time with), it would certainly be nice if you would at least be open about this with your listeners. Words can't express my utter disappointment. |
