| Message | Fair criticisms by all...and while I don't feel an obligation to defend my deal, I will anyway. It all comes down to what a terrible drafter I am...I've written up my draft list for this year and Joikenen is better than the people I had lined up for pick two onward. That includes my 8th overall prospect. So, either my scouting is crap (likely) or the pickings are slim this year. Did I pick up Joikenen because he plays for my favourite team? No. However, because I'm a Flames fan I've noticed how well he is playing with Iginla - and I often try to grab the guys playing WITH the hot guys so I can ride their coat tails. The only forward on my roster I feel confident about is Spezza..and even he has been crappy for the last year. I need someone on my roster to not suck...and Joiken is that guy!!!! (also, Hamhuis has been a constant dissapointment) |

And by 'this one' I mean 'this fleecing' I recommend that the Eppsters be required to submit all proposed trades to Rob, Cam, Jeff, or myself for approval in order to prevent these types of fleecing. I say that in jest, of course, but seriously, giving up a prospect pick, TWO second rounders, AND Hamhuis for Jokinen? Does Jokinen crap gold pucks or something? The 4th rounder is meaningless as Dan will be finishing at the top so that will probably be the last pick in the draft, only good for activating a prosepct but wait!! Eppsters won't have any prospects to activate because they just traded their only prospect pick away!! Sigh. I need to start planning sooner so that I can be on the receiving side of one of these deals again. I have an excuse with our new baby though  (All in fun... all in fun) |
