MessageWell Dan, unless Joikenen gets 10 points in the next two games, you owe me a second round pick.

How embarassing for you...

MessageI still like staggering the pay out so everybody but last place gets something...that way, there is always incentive to fight for the next spot.

Free agency is a possiblity..I still don't like the idea ofpunshing the GM's who are really good at building teams though (note: under no circumstances, will that list ever include me)

Message1. I think the money adjustments if brought in should be paired with the other rule adjustments.

2. It will be harder for teams to stay at the top if the teams at the bottom aren't having fire sales... although it's a bit of a dilemna right now just cause the Dukes look to be there to stay for a while.

3. I agree with the free agency system as something to look at... a lot of pools will have a protection cutoff line, i.e. protect X players and the rest go back into the draft... similar but not the same as the expansion process has worked in the past...

Playoff pool?

Canucks to win the cup! WOOOO

Messagepersonally, changing the payouts won't change how i run my team for a future rebuild or how much i follow it. but if it will work for the majority, i have no problem with it.

we definately need to address the race for the #1 pick though. another season of listening to grievances is not an option. i don't care enough about cam or collin's team to want to vote every month either.

also a secondary topic is how to make it harder for teams to stay at the top. i'd like to explore some kind of free agency system where the best teams lose good players. they could be available in the redraft, giving more value to the bottom teams that they could trade or use to become more competitive.

MessageOk here's my suggestion for the $$ side of things, but I do think it still needs to be paired with other suggestions and should be part of a larger move.

$30 * 8 = $240
Penalties for:
8th place $30
7th place $10
Total cash $280

Prize money and ($Net).

1st. $130($100)
2nd. $80 ($50)
3rd. $50 ($20)
4th. $10 (-$20)
5th. $10 (-$20)
6th. $0 (-$30)
7th. $0 (-$40)
8th. $0 (-$60)

Basically, The incentive is spread out a little... finishing 1st 2nd or 3rd should be worth a payout, and finishing 4th or 5th gets some cash back to make the pool a touch cheaper... 6th 7th and 8th spots are the ones to be avoided... and 8th comes with a steep penalty at the end of year so it's worth a final battle to try and finish 7th instead of 8th.

Just my version of the many ways of doing things but I thought I'd propose it.

congrats Goon, good luck with diaper duty

MessageI think 50 bucks is a bit steep. I also only think the top 3 should receive winnings.
I'd suggest $30 entry, 3rd wins $30, 2nd wins $60, and 1st takes the rest.

MessageInteresting debate...

I think a payout system based on final rankings would be an incentive to stay more involved. Right now, there is first place and nothing else - I'd probably make a last minute deal or two each month if it picked me up an extra ten bucks at the end.
That would eliminate the need to penalize people for not making roster changes etc. If it's going to cost them cash to keep sliding in the rankings, that is punshiment enough.

What if we each commit 50 bucks to the pool each year? I know that's more than twice as much as we're paying right now, but who are we kidding - our stakes aren't exactly cuthroat.
If we we're working from a pool of 400 bucks we could make sure everyone (except last place) gets some sort of cash back.
For example:

First place - 150
Second -80
Third - 60
Fourth - 50
Fifth - 30
Sixth - 20
Seventh - 10
Eight - 0

This is just a first-pass of a payout structure and certainly open to modification.
What do guys think? Is 50 bucks too steep?
