MessageI hadn't heard that... I'd heard that his father was getting overly involved in the early injury plagued problems between Hodgson and the Nucks but hadn't heard about it recently... if that's the case then it makes a little more sense...

Still a terrible loss for the Nucks imo.

MessageApparently Hodgson's father has been working hard behind the scenes orchestrating his son's departure for quite some time. Hodgson wanted out of Van because he had no chance of getting top 6 minutes. I don't blame Vignault for not investing in a guy who was clearly not invested in Vancouver for the long haul.

MessageI was so excited to see Hodgson emerge in this years playoffs... the guy has made something from nothing with any horse*&%t line Vignault put him on... and he's been improving weekly...

The Canucks are going to miss Hodgson down the road... the good news I think we still win the cup either way... but this trade is no good.

Guys like Hodgson are difficult to come by... he's gonna be a huge piece of any team in a few years... meanwhile size and grit is easy to buy in the 1 mill to 2 mill range...

I've been ill since hearing the news... hate to see Cody Hodgson go.

In FHL news, this is great for Goon, because Hodgson will easily earn his way into prime ice time and PP time now... and produce at a much better pace in the east.

MessageBeautiful deal by Dan. Removed a huge amount of risk and added players with similar upsides without compromising age.

Head-scratcher from CDoggs perspective. Gotta figure Green is damaged goods which limits his value and Backstrom is plain scary with the migraine history and now a massive concussion. Why add all that risk when all you gain is a few years? Especially strange considering age isn't the C'Doggs main concern. Add that to the missed opportunity to squeeze a pressured GM and Dan comes out smelling like a rose.

Canucks - bizarre trade. I don't like the deal strictly from the fact that the Canucks are a worse team now than at 12noon. Long term, it may be fine but give me Hodgson in the playoffs 7 days a week. He would have been money.

MessageLove the Canucks moves today. Looking more like a playoff style team. I have been quite unmotivated to watch many games this year because of the style of play they have. Now they have a few guys in Kassian and Paalson who will actually throw a body check. Hodgson will move on to have a nice career with the Sabres, and the Canucks add a rugged winger and another good skating, puck moving dman.

MessageLove the Parise deal!! Karlsson is an absolute ANIMAL out there. Over the past few games I have opened up the scoreboard, saw that Ottawa has had like 3, 4, or 5 goals so I'm thinking 'great, perhaps a point or two for Karlsson'. Instead I see that he is basically in on EVERY Ottawa goal. How sweet it is!! That being said... the view from 3rd place kinda sucks
