| Message | If the players were organized enough the NHLPA should just start their own league... sure they'd have to dig deep to build the infrastructure but it could easily be done over some time... they should be starting now with fundraising celebrity games where half the money goes to the host cities charity... build fan base etc. Owners are at fault for being idiots, owners just don't care in the majority of cases owning an NHL team is the equivalent to a saskatchewan farmer owning a quad and a shotgun. Toys. |

| Message | Posted by Dobber on Dobberhockey. I have thought this for a while and agree 100% with his thoughts. While the players and the media are starting to believe that perhaps Gary Bettman has underestimated Donald Fehr, Bettman continues to just not care what players and media believe. He's at home, sipping his coffee and reading a newspaper. And when January hits, he'll cancel the season. And when January of 2014 hits and the NHLPA still haven't come crawling, he'll shut down the NHL. Do you think he's even given Donald Fehr a second thought? The NHL is a toy to his bosses. While they bring in billions of dollars from Little Caesars, or Biovail, or Rexall Pharmacy, or Ameritel or American Express - you know, their real businesses - they are content to take a couple of years off from their toy. In fact, if shutting down the league in two years and then re-launching a new league in four years is the method to get their way, they're comfortable with that. Carries on in next post... |

| Message | Do you think a corporation cares if it has to shut down an office building in Montreal, if it saves millions? So what makes you think the owners care about shutting down a small part of their wealth, i.e. the NHL? The players are getting treated unfairly here. And yes, they are getting screwed (and the term "screwed" is used very loosely, when you consider that makings millions of dollars per year is hardly getting screwed). But welcome to the reality of life. People get screwed by their bosses all the time. You need to accept the conditions of working in your industry - as outlined by your boss - or you can go to chef school or business school or a trade school and find yourself a new career. It's a brutal way to put it, but it's reality. I'm anti-both sides. But if I were to pick a side it would be the players - my anger with the players is a 100…but my anger with the owners is a 1000! That being said, I've accepted reality: You can't strong-arm the owners if they don't care. Stop banking on the owners caring, because they don't. And if they don't care, then threats fall on deaf ears and canceling seasons are brushed aside like an annoying fly. |

| Message | I am indifferent towards the lockout this time but the one thing that is really annoying is all these players whining about how it is the leagues fault. The last lockout was about fixing a broken system but this lockout is about pure greed...BY BOTH SIDES. And there is nothing wrong with fighting for money but don't act like the other side is the only problem when both sides are equally to blame. Shut up Ovechkin, Toews and the rest... |

| Message | 3 days of hockey meetings at the Express Okanagon retreat center has us ready for an end to the lockout and redraft time. Draft strategy coming together and player evaluations ongoing. No layoffs in Express front office at this stage. |

| Message | Yeah, I don't have any interest in a draft unless/until the season starts. Also, the Eppsters franchise owns several other properties and interests, most staffed by unions. I can't risk alienating all my workers but supporting a draft during a lock-out. |

| Message | The precedence in our league is to hold a draft if the NHL has a season. We compensated for that in the full lockout year with additional rounds in the drafts. Remember that Crosby and Ovechkin got drafted in the same draft. I'm missing hockey, no doubt |

| Message | No need for a draft when there will be no hockey for the foreseeable future. Personally, I'm not going to miss hockey until after the Super Bowl is over. |

| Message | Our league is very interesting. My buddies at work have had their yearly keeper league draft already, several of the hockey insiders that I follow have already or are in the middle of having a draft in the next week or two. But the FHL? Our Commish is completely uninterested in having a draft and no mention of the setting a draft date. What are peoples thoughts on a draft date? |

| Message | Ha, seriously though, I echo the sentiments of Commish Brown. When will GM Lindhout be joining the festivities? |
