| Message | WHy don't we start the draft ASAP? We dont even have to do it all in one night? We can do it progressively over the next week or so? Start with prospect draft and keep going...what's the order? |

| Message | I agree, prospect draft will be pretty much at the same time so will we push that back? and midseason draft dates? Have to give respect to the US team for their win this am. They're a solid team and got the early jump and some puck luck to put Canada on their heals for the game. |

| Message | Yep, we should get on this - season is going to start quite quickly after deal is reached. |

| Message | It might be a good idea to start planning for when the eventual deal is struck. When should we schedule the draft for? I'm guessing the season will start on Jan 19 so some evening in the week previous is the obvious starter. Which nights is everyone free? Probably the closer to the 19th, the better as that week is going to be crazy for NHL transactions. |

| Message | Getting closer to the end. My read on the situation is that both sides realize how close they are and now the league will dig in. If they say "that's the offer...take it or leave it", there is no way the PA will reject it when the deadline comes. It's basically a game of chicken now but the league is driving a train while the PA is standing on the tracks. I've actually enjoyed watching how this process has gone down. Its amazing that both sides are filled with brilliant businessmen and they couldn't figure out that the true enemy is the loss of fans and revenues. |

| Message | I agree with Cam on the state of the negotiations. I am actually quite optimistic following yesterdays talks, and what appears to be a slow and gradual coming together of the 2 parties. I can't predict a date but I feel there will be a season at some point. |

| Message | Its pretty funny how fans yo-yo back and forth between optimism and pessimism on a daily basis. This process is and always has been a straight-up negotiation. Take out all the rhetoric and what you have is two sides that are very slowly coming together. Now the players may not like the way things are going but Bettman has the hammer and he knows it. Calling him an "idiot" is not going to cause him to buckle. Guaranteed he has an end deal in mind for the NHL. The question is whether the PA will accept it when the proverbial gun (lost season) is to their heads. Bettman is a lot of things but a bad businessman he is not. I do agree with others who have said that he should not hand out the Stanley Cup ever again. Give that honor to someone who cares about the game of hockey and not just the business of hockey. Hold out hope, guys! The season will start in January just like it always was going to. |
