MessageHello to all at Merstham FC. On the face of it, none of you will probably know me - I am the first team manager of the SCL Div 1 side Ringmer FC and have recently had to take on the dubious Chairmans' role at the same time.

No my association to you is not through football though. I grew up in Merstham - in fact I lived at 5 Weldon Way for around 12 years as a kid and through that I always catch your results.

Two things - I wonder if there's anyone out there that was around in my day - I left in 1966 two months after we won the World Cup and secondly fancy a friendly at the start of the 2010/11 season.

MessageThanks for that Ted,last nights game against a very impressive Folkstone side, who must go close to winning the league, well having weathered a fair bit of Folkstone pressure we conceded after about 15 mins, when after a good save from Chats it was bundled in on the line with a touch of off side about it,but on the balance they probably deserved it,however Dale was unlucky not to put us ahead before that when the keeper made a good save.We looked like we might keep in touch until half time and defended well under some pressure, however we conceded the killer goal from a set pice when a free header was put in on the stroke of half time,as I said Folkstone probably deserved it,but again the team showed guts,Graham must have got at em at half time and had we taken our second half chances we might have got something out of the game, and battled yet again and did not throw in the towell so thats a good sign, just got to stop giving away silly goals and perhaps taking more chances,it was a bitterly cold night, yes no points again, but there are promaasing signs, and we are not going to come up against teams of Folkstones quality every game, but what we must do is to go to Dulwich and pick up 3 points and do the same on Monday and keep the positive vibes going.

MessageHave to agree with Iris and all the comments below, and although my son is playing in the back line, this is what I would like to say,Graham deserves credit for sticking with virtualy the same team for the last 6 games, and O.K we had 3 defeats in those 6 games, but as most of you would probably agree in all 3 of those defeats we should have got something out of all of them, but you could see theer was some improvement, the draw at Horsham was a terrific result considering there decent form and we then got what we deserved with 2 wins on the bounce and although there have been a few mistakes here and there, there has been improvement and fair play to Graham,The back line has got to be one of the youngest in the league with I think two who are 22 and two who are 21 and they will only get better as a unit as time and more expeareance kicks in,added to that Smudge,Ross White,Troy,Gavin and some of the promosing reserves we could be seeing exciting times, you always need expeareance and with players like Sam Hewitt,Dale and Wes who are both playing well at the moment the team is starting to look mire positive and players appear to be happier. No team is easy to beat in this side and against both Whitstable and Walton it would have been nice to have won more convincingly, however a win is a win,we go into tonights game at Folkstone with confidance high, lets hope we can get something out of the game, lets get behind Graham and the lads. smilie
