MessageI am Director of Music Ministries for Westminster Presbyterian in Nashville and have a Youth Choir of 25 7th-12 grades. The boys are a mix of changing and changed voices. At present I have all the "changing" voices (several cambiatas) singing tenor. If I choose music carefully, it's fine, but that is not always easy to find. I'd love to see any sacred music you have that fits such a group. They have sung your "Kyrie" by Bob Ashton and it's lovely.

MessageI have a middle school choir with 26 students. Four are boys. Of the boys, one is a baritone, on a cambiata, one an alto and one a soprano. If balanced properly, they can easily sing three part music, and occassionally easy four part music.

I am having a terrible time finding music for these boys. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Melissa

MessageMy wife has conducted a young adult choir for our 18-30 year church group (mostly singles). I support her as an informal coach in the bass/baritone section. She normally gets about 20-30 participants, 3/5th female and 2/5 male. Almost always we get 2 or 3 men and sometimes a woman who have a great desire to participate but do not know where their voices are. I've had some success individually working with one or two of them and was searching for help online when I saw your site. I plan to offer a pre-choir session each practice night for 30 minutes and invite those who are uncertain to come in and get some help in finding their voice and learning to match. So I'm looking for folks to mentor/coach or guide me as I move forward. I've started to notice some interesting things and am developing some "theories" of my own but would be happy to try out any / all proven methods. I learned to read music as a reluctant piano student 5-10, then picked up the clarinet and saxophone in high school and joined some choirs in high school and have sung ever since. My talent is not outstanding but I can memorize and with practice hold my part pretty well against all odds (save with some of my enthusiastic young men who drown me out and confuse my ear/brain.) Any way, I excited to hit this more head on than we have previously.

Bob

MessageI'm teaching Graded Choirs this semester. One of my students received an email from Dr. Don Collins about you sending out complimentary packets for my 17 students. Thank you so much for doing this.
