MessageGuru Mushtaq,

I miss you so! How are you? Come to PDX and visit. I decided to pick Trinidad and Tobago as my location (ha I wish). School starts Monday, I've got a light load with Arabic and freaking A&P which I dislike to the fullest.
Can I get another video? I have played the first one out, I rarely get to see Guru Plink and I really feel rather dead-logged if that is a word. Other than that I also miss chatting with you. Hope you are well, you have been on my mind an awful lot lately which probably means I should call you.
PS the wahabs in PDX really are driving me fraking nuts. Can't even go to school Jummah without talk of perfume being adultery. I would have sent this in an email but I've got like 5 emails for you and can't remember which to use.
Please email me in blogger, my regular email or myspace because with my brand new blackberry I now respond within hours... unless I'm sleeping.
Your little lonely student,
aisha smilie smilie smilie

MessageHello.

I've spent a few weeks reading your blog archives and wanted to introduce myself. I discovered your blog when I realized that two other blogs I read were both pointing here (Steve Perry's and Steve Barnes's).

Much of what I've read has been interesting and you were right when you said blogging "is a web cam into someone's mind, which is much more intimate than a camera in the living room, and sometimes a lot more spooky." I don't necessarily agree with some of what you've written but you do make me think about my own opinions, which is a good thing. I might start offering those opinions as the impulse arises in the future.

I especially like the stories (Sufi, Lovecraftian, and others), the weapons discussions, and the photographs (although I'd like to see which ones are yours and which ones are by others ... there are some really good ones on your blog and I'd like to know who did which ones).

Two questions, if I may:
1. What is the ending to the "Dance of the New Moon" story? If you added it to the comments, those comments no longer exist and I'm curious.
2. Regarding cane as a weapon, if part of self-defense is avoiding trouble, how do you carry a cane and *not* look like an easier target for an aggressor?

As long as you keep writing, I plan to keep reading.

~ Jas.

MessageHi. Just wanted to say I enjoyed your blog. I am a novice at silat. My instructor taught a composite of silat, kali, muay thai and wing chun kungfu. I admire your writing style as well. I find your treatise on sport vs combat interesting and your treatise on training illuminating. I'm a working police officer of 21 yrs and martial artist for 31. I use my skills for day to day survival and carry weapons daily. I have a survival mindset. I enjoy your training ideas. Keep up the good work and don't let back biting weasels get you down. those people are all over even here in cajun land.

Messagehi Mushtaq, I don't have your phone number, but would like to call you to schedule some time to talk about auyervedi herbs and the like. I enjoy your blog, love all your connections, but admit I don't spend too much time reading blogs. I read my daughter's for obvious reasons and plan to check out the Guru's handbook.

thanks for the class saturday. I'm up to four reps of the second level. one of my clients commented that my face was looking calmer.....hmmmm. I told my friend who asked me about the Tibetans, that this was the next level of yoga I've been looking for. Akikdo was getting to be too much for this older bod of mine.

look forward to our next clinic. let me know how I can reach you for the consult.

fenna
