MessageLeonard Cohen wrote all the verses to Hallelujah. Different artists have recorded the verses they've chosen from Cohen's writings. You can find about all about the song in sections of The Leonard Cohen Files (leonardcohenfiles.com)

A transcription of Allison's piano version is found in Allison's website Music section )

Happy New Year!! smilie

MessageAllison, thank you for posting your version of Hallelujah on your site. I'm currently transposing the piano music from KD Lang's version to guitar (well, a lot of it). Jeff Buckley actually wrote the lyrics to your version, isn't that right? Or, does Leonard Cohen do two versions? In any case, Cohen's version is too spiritual for the charts, but a great song. Buckley's version adds a personal touch more common to the masses...
One personal comment: I'd like to hear you sing a little softer in the first verses to give the song more crescendo. You let your pipes ring right up front (and beautiful pipes they are), but it leaves the rest of the song on the same plane.

MessageMay the New Year
bring you happiness and peace,
and the strength and courage
to follow your dreams.
May you forget the weight
of yesterday
and focus on the path ahead,
guided by your heart
and the light of hope.
May you find beauty
in everything
and goodness
in every heart.
And may you always remember
that you are blessed.

Happy New Year Allison!

MessageDear Allison,

I just saw your in-studio performance of "In My Life" & a live performance of "Hallelujah" on Youtube, and I really found them moving. I will check out your CD's courtesy of Amazon.com. I hope you will come to the NYC area to perform in the near future. Thanks for the great music.

MessageI hope this Christmas
comes to you joyously and softly,
with the rustle of angel's wings,
with the warmth of a candle's glow,
with the laughter of children,
and a "Ho, ho, ho."
I hope it arrives
with the beauty of Church bells,
with the scent of cinnamon and pine,
and brings much warmth and love
to make your heart shine.

Merry Christmas!
