MessageHere's a flash from your past from Geneva NY. While talking with Sonny Sage about the old days at Sonny's Bar on Seneca Street, your name came up and we wondered where you disappeared too. We miss the yearly visits we used to have with you back in the 70's and 80's. "Doctor Dirty" John Valby made a return to G-town last month after a twenty year hiatis and you should think about it too.

MessageHey there,
I saw you and your band at Lattitude 18 in St. Thomas on Thursday, March 26th and Friday, March 27th. You guys were awesome. I spoke with you and need to know when you will be playing in NYC. You mentioned that you will be playing at a baptist church on 34th Street, (and you also mentioned that they serve beer). Let me know when you will be playing. I want to bring everyone from my office to your show. The crowd is looking forward to seeing what I referred to as "the highlight of my St. Thomas vacation". Ain't it great to be alive!!!!
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Debbie

MessageJust saw you guys on Sunday (3/29) playing Skinny Legs on St. John. Wanted to let you know we had a great time, and the 4 of you were fantastic. A great mix of different styles and music - who woulda thunk U2 and Rod Stewart, mixed in with a little Tom Waits? We're glad the crowd got dancing on the sand floor. Thanks for the memories...

MessageJust got back from our second trip to St Thomas and got to see you and the band again at Latitude 18. A lot of fun. We joined my brother and his wife, who had turned us on to you, along with some friends for the show. I was surprised to see on our flight back we had some of the pole dancing women on board. I was going to mention something to them but they got away too soon. I'll keep an eye out on your schedule and see if you ever get to the Chicago area.

Thanks.

MessageOne of my favorites-of-all-time music is the Orange Blossom Special, by Dick Solberg. Friends took us to hear his Inside Out Band play in Geneva NY, circa 1975. That is a long time ago now but never forgotten. Here was this bluegrass band and fantastic fiddle player like we'd never heard before. And then they played Orange Blossom Special, sometimes Dick would play that for 15 solid minutes, and this was well past midnight. (Toothpicks literally kept is eyelids open). It never failed to bring down the house. Dick said to me once that I'd never forget this tune, and I didn't.
Unfortunately the Inside Out Band broke up but I kept tabs on Dick and he said he was now known as the Sun Mountain Fiddler when I next found him a couple years later at the Cottage Inn in Mendon NY.
Doing research for MIDI and Orange Blossom Special made me try to use the internet to see if the Sun Mountain Fiddler is still around. Well, Yes Indeed. And still looking (or acting) not too much different.
No one has ever played the fiddle like Dick, Charlie Daniels can't come close. Congratulations on making it this long and providing so much great music!!
