MessageI've just read chapter 1 of "To resist both wind and tide". I love adventures and this seems to be one. Let them have more fights and wounds (as long as a happy end lurks somewhere). I thought about reading all your stories I haven't even touched but I was too curious about FL and this one. So, the mountain of work (reading ALL your stories) gets even higher and higher. But who wants to complain? Certainly not me!

Even if it's a little bit early I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and I'll drink one of my certainly many drinks at NewYearsDay to you... (you only have to find good reasons to drink if the mood strikes you)

thank you for these terrific comments smilie yes, i am glad it came through that Thranduil was not negligent because he was indifferent to Legolas' needs. There has been a lot going on and as Elrond remarked, Legolas learned early how to give the appearance of normalcy. and I am really glad you see that Legolas is not all right. His behaviour with his father reveals someone stunted emotionally - despite his insistence to the contrary, he did act very childishly during the initial reunion, in some sense. smilie

he has a ways to go and we'll see if Elrond's prescription works. thank you again smilie

MessageOh, having seen Thranduil and Legolas together now in Chapter 5 of "Fractured Light," I can see that there is much more to the story of what happened in Mirkwood than I originally thought. Certainly Thranduil isn't the indifferent father that I imagined. And it's frightening to think that Legolas is not in fact emotionally healed at all, though he's starting to heal physically. I am anxious to see Chapter 6!

MessageHi Anfalas smilie

Thank you bunches smilie and I am happy you find compassion for Rammas. The evaluation you gave is exactly how Elrond sees it and hopefully he can help Legolas get to that point too. Now, Rammas' survival, that is his failure to bond with his brother, the fact that he is NOT grieving over their separation, is part of the key to his character. Your comment about developing a separate set of rules is right on target.

and yes indeed, Thranduil's part is important and what light he has to shed on this will illuminate the situation radically. Elrond may just find he has two patients under his roof.

thank you again smilie

MessageI've just finished the 4th chapter of Fractured Light. Can't wait to find out, what is Thranduils part in all of this. And allthought Rammas did Legolas wrong I feel for him because he was only a child himself. Even grown up he had developed his own world and rules. How should he suddenly know that all was wrong what he did and if so how could he survive? Please be gentle with him if he deserves it. Anfalas

Messageooooh! i just read chapter 4 of FL and i am intrigued.
what happened between thranduil and his mysterious queen?
was legolas really ten years old and why were he and Rammas locked away? why no one seem to have noticed what happened then and what continued to happen afterwards between the brothers?
lot of questions and thranduil may have more answers than legolas credits him for...
perhaps we will come to see some of that temper for which oropher and his line are so infamous (i hope from legolas, he has been abused enough already!) and did i mention I love his assessment of erestor (an assassin's voice... great!!) and the way you depicted the cousins'intercourse?

Thank you smilie wasn't sure if this chapter would put people off or not.

i am thrilled you enjoyed the chapter. it is a touchy subject and i was trying not to make Rammas a complete villain, and i think you see he was not really to blame, at least at first.

yes, there is more going on here and i know Elrond is determined to ge to the bottom of it. But, he can't reveal all to Thranduil without breaking trust with Legolas. it remains to be seen if there is a way to make him aware without doing that, and we will find out what the King knows already. yes, there is a great deal he will have to say about the situation, especially the ongoing neglect of his children. there certainly were kin in the stronghold, even Rammas said do.

MessageWhat a wonderful Thanksgiving surprise to see Chapter 4 of "Fractured Light" up so soon!

Well, even though I can't say that I like Rammas at all, I have to admit that leaving him more or less alone for so long to console and educate Legolas at such a young age was a grievous wrong to both the brothers. And shouldn't someone older have intervened at least to mark Legolas's coming-of-age? No wonder he feels abandoned by everyone.

Thranduil has a great deal to answer for: let's see what happens now that he's arrived in Imladris!

I am so impressed - you read Feud allthe way through smilie that is quite a read.

Thank you for all the wonderful compliments smilie Yes, I am definitely finishing it up,there should be another update around xmas time. it's just that Feud takes alot out of me and i have to watch my mental state closely. A major milestone was the death of Malthen and so there are only a few evil elves to deal with now smilie

well, i really like LOTR Fanfiction, but Feud is a pretty dark tale. I am not sure how well it would be received there. plus, the chapters are immense and most sites have word count limits per post. that means one chapter sometimes ends up being three. there are websites where Feud has 113 chapters because of this, though the content is the same.sigh smilie

but thank you again for taking the time to let you know you enjoyed reading Feud. absolutely made my day smilie
