MessageI love Sonata Arctica, Domain and Axxis too. Melodic power metal with an extra something special. How about your faves, Santeri? And Nick?

MessageSorry for double post. Only clicked once?! The wikipedia entry is useful. But in England, we need also a change to a more +ve attitude to melodic epic metal in the rock magazine media, instead of this fixation with 'brutal' [boring] music, before bands like Olympos Mons will ever get a fraction of the acclaim they deserve. Maybe Finnish rockmags are better?

Message..Another new Finnish band I like is Dotma. Similar to Amberian Dawn but proggier. Cadacross are great too though I'd prefer without the growly vox. And I checked out Adamantra of course. V. impressed with their uplifting tunes, but prefer less time-signiature changes in music. Great hooks need longer play for listener to fully enjoy. But Mikko's performance on drums as brilliant as usual! Adamantra far above average. And hello Nick! We are a steadily growing clan, those who investigate 'Poetic Power Metal' and find something far greater than even our best musical dreams!

MessageHi again Santeri. Other bands? Ah! Some are from Finland so you may know them! Amberian Dawn I'm extremely impressed by; love them. Terasbetoni, your Eurovision 2008 entry, nearly blew my head through the roof when I heard them! Not just any power metal band, but a really good, ORIGINAL sounding one, on Eurovision???! Brilliant! Ensiferum and Turisas are great too. From other countries, I like Edenbridge, Helloween, Kaledon, Dark Moor, Fairyland, Heavenly, Threshold and Royal Hunt. And Freedom Call, Falconer, Pagan's Mind, ... but none are as good as Olympos Mons. I seriously doubt I'll ever hear anything as brilliant as 'Medievil'. Acolyte, Devil In The Kitchen, Kyrie Eleison & others are great too, but...!

MessageHey William, I got into Olympos Mons in the same way than you, I was reading the promo album section of the Rain of a Thousand Flames Rhapsody's album. So i though the same; "Poetic Metal", what a weird sub-genre, so I listened to Conquistador, and i really like it.

MessageOK Santeri. I like 'Black', but felt riff had reached its sell-by date by end of track. Maybe 'Through The Ice...' I only wanted longer cos I love the harpsichord sound so much! To the band: has the sandstorm started blowing around the high hill yet? Really would like a little news on album 3 even though 1 and 2 are still never far from my hifi.

MessageHi friends,

This summer I´m going to visit Finland to see some sights, your nice nature with uncountable lakes. You can be sure that during travelling I´ll be listening to Olympos Mons music from my headphones. Finland is rich for many excellent bands and you are no exeption.
Good luck and I´m looking forward to your new CD already.
Come to stay ro the Czech republic sometime.
Have a good time.
Your fan Mirek
