MessageTo all H.T.S. ex-students,

You really are lovely, sincere and thoughtful people. Kirk and I have been sent literally dozens of messages, calls, letters and e-mails. Thank you so much. Kirk is deeply touched. When Kirk was a teenager, John was exactly like a father to him. Kirk is missing him dreadfully.
Understandably, Barbie and her children will need some privacy when they return to England.
When any details for the future have been made,I will write them here. Thank you again and bless you.
Jo xx

MessageI just wanted to add my thoughts and words in honour of John's memory.

Firstly Laura G I am so glad you reminded me of 'The Soldier' moment, it honestly choked me thinking of it again.

No words could ever express the feelings that I am sure everyone has on this genius of a man. I had the honour of not only playing Henry V but being directed in the part by John. It will always go down as my fondest and most exciting memory. He taught me how to deliver the lines truthfully, heartfelt and most of all he ignited a passion in Shakespeare in me that I was unaware of. I was only recalling the other day when in a workshop he was teaching us about taking control of a scene, he took my face in his hands and kissed my forehead, i can now truly say that I am one of few people who have been touched by his greatness.

To John, a talent, a genius, a role model and a truly wonderful human being.

Messagei think it is `so fitting` that tributes to John are coming in thick and fast as he truly was an amazing and well loved man.
in the short time that i new John , he never ceased to amaze me with his enthusiasm for life , and his profession and for making us feel so `inept` at acting...lol
i remember he `impro`d ` a whole bar scene , using pumps , glasses , tables , talking to `imaginary people` and having them answer him back..we were all awestruck at this mans talent and also the fact that he could play `any` part whatsoever , he could evne play a girl better than some girls !!
we will all miss him greatly and all our thoughts and wishes are with his closest family

love clive smilie because he made us laugh

MessageJust wanted to add to the tributes for lovely John - We were rehearsing Henry V on November 11th 2004 and just after the 2 minute silence, he recited the whole of "The Soldier" (the poem which begins "If I should die, think only this of me..."smilie. It was really moving and it's my second favourite memory of him. My first is of him showing us all the correct way to fall over on stage! I'm sure my year will agree it was a comedy day, it still makes me laugh thinking about it!
I could have listened to him talk all day, he was so engaging, and impossibly intelligent! Thank you John, we'll miss you.

MessageThose of us who've only been around for the past year may not have known John very well, but he was always still there to support and encourage us, to the extreme of Barbie coming to make John's presentation at the Grad Ball when he was too poorly. Grateful even for this short time...love, thanks and warmest wishes.

MessageI am absolutely saddend by the news of John. He was actually the most beautiful, kind hearted and just amazing person I've ever had the fortune of meeting. He helped me so much whilst I was at HTS and he wrote me the most beautiful letter that I will hold against my heart forever. He was not just my teacher but he was a true friend and, in a way, a sort of father figure. I will never forget what he has done for me and taught me and I will be forever grateful and thankful.I am truly honoured to of known this truly inspirational man. My thoughts and love go out to Barbie and family, and also Kirk, Jo, anne-marie and to all the wonderful past and present students of HTS. Even though I am not with you you all and have not been back for a while you are all always in my heart and always will be. Love always Laura.T.

MessageLike Rob I am guilty of not making an effort to keep in touch with old and dear friends, but those freinds were never far from my thoughts and John was certainly one of them. I don't think I have ever learnt so much from one person, I very often find myself quoting him on all manner of subjects, he was an amazing teacher,an inspiration and a really, really good human being. The world is a sadder place without him.
My love and thoughts are with Barbie and family.
