MessageHeard the very sad news today (8th July). John was a truly wonderful man who believed in every student who walked through the doors at HTS. Me,standing at only 4ft 11", you told me to hang on one day I'd make it big!. Well John, I get recognised walking about in Belfast, what does that tell you? I am a better person and actress having known you. lots of love and my deepest sympathy to John's family.

MessageTo Barbara and all of Johns family and to Kirk and Jo
I was sad to hear of Johns death this week, and just wanted to add my thoughts to those here already
John was a wise, caring man who I know guided and helped many both in their professions and their lives. I kept in touch each year at Christmas and John true to form always wrote a witty letter back.
My thoughts are with all of you, but I read a card today that made me think of John
" Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened"
John I feel privalaged to have known you.
Be happy, wherever you are

MessageI just want to say what a truly great man John Gardiner was, he was just so lovely. I was lucky enough to be auditioned by him when I first applied, and will be eternally grateful to him for giving me the chance to train at HTS.

He was the kindest, nicest man you could wish to meet, and he will be sorely missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

My thoughts are with Barbie and the family at this time.

MessageJust wanted to add my thoughts. It still hasn't really sunk in even though i've known since monday. I'm so glad i saw Barbie on thurs eve to pass on my get well wishes, as she had told me he wasn't well.
What can i say that hasn't already been said?
Anyone who ever came in contact with John just adored him. He was such a giving man, such an inspiration, never critical but always guided you into great acting work to achieve the best out of you.
I asked him once "Why did'nt you become an actor? You would have been great!",he simply replied, "I s@*t myself too much!"
He never ceased to amaze me.

I will miss him.
My regards to Kirk and Jo. And of course to Barbie and the family. Thinking of you. Philxx

MessageJohn gardiner the great! what a fantastic and well respected gentleman. I think we can all say he was the king of shakespeare and what he said to me will stay with me forever.

"never lose your accent, it makes me feel warm when i speak to you."

So there is a lesson to all you northeners, turn it off when you have to but never lose your roots!!

Thinking of you kirk and jo at this sad time and all my love to barb and family.

MessageI am deeply saddened by the loss of John. I too feel very privileged to have known John as a teacher and friend.
How do you sum up such an amazing man in so few words? The fact that such a huge number of people are saddened by John`s loss is a testament to just how special he was. A powerhouse with the biggest heart, kind, gentle & generous in sharing his knowledge. I always called him the walking encyclopedia ,if you wanted to know the answer to anything John was your man.An absolute genius.

"All the world`s a stage.
And all the men and women merely players
They have their exits and their entrances:
And one man in his time plays many parts .."
William Shakespeare.

I remember my first Greek history lesson with John in which he brought every character to life ,especially in his unrestrained worship of dionysus complete with an abundance saliva. He took my breath away & I knew from that moment on that learning from John was going to be a ball..and it was.He was a great role model & will always be an inspiration to me.

"You shall go out with joy,
and be led forth with peace.
The mountains and the hills
shall break before you into singing
and all the trees of the fields
shall clap their hands "
Isiah.

God bless you in your divine essence, John Gardiner. You are a legend...Thank you for existing - we have been blessed to have you in our lives x

Dear Barbie & family my love and thoughts are with you x
