| Message | What's with the hang-up about Oxbridge? Our oldest girl went to Cambridge and worked bloody hard to get a place! Hardly from a 'well to do' background. |

| Message | Well jmc!! I did reply to your last posting, however, it looks like this website is under government control and didn't wish it to be seen. Nice to see 50,000 Irish citizens don't like what their government is doing. He-ho!! |

| Message | Hi Nobbie Hope you and your family are well and not drinking to much of that nice wine. Finally found a lovely place to live even if it is only 6-8 months out of the year (India is brilliant) I recognised a few old names from the Third Batt and it was great reading the comments that they made. I was very taken back by some of the blokes who have passed away again some great guys, God bless them. I'll sign off nobbie give my regards to all the lads from the batt. all the best for the future Robbie ex 2 Para |

| Message | Mr Severs. Surely you mean i'm the first to rise to your bait? Having done so however I do feel I have to continue to dispute your figures. UK population in Mid 2009 was 61.8 million of which 5% were under 16 and around the same ( 5 to 6%)were retired. (All figures courtesy of the Office of National Statistics). You describe these two groups as representing "most" of the 60 million I used. Since when did 10-11% of anything become "most"? As regards the "poor students", whilst I agree that the Bankers and Regulators should be digging D.T.L.s in Afghanistan for the nest few years, the idea of a video link (no doubt suggested tongue in cheek) to teach students via OxBridge, even if technically and logistically possible would only have some merit if most of them actually wanted to be taught! (Incidentally, if anyone else is following this and thinks I should get a life, you're probably dead right......but I can't resist a provocation!!! |
