MessageJapanese Volunteers Required for Clinical Trials

The Centre for Clinical Studies would like to create a database of healthy Japanese male and female volunteers for future clinical trials.

These studies are undertaken to see whether there are any differences in metabolism between Caucasians and Japanese when the same dose of a drug is given to each group. There is a requirement to undertake these studies before a new drug can be tested in patient studies in Japan.

To be eligible:

You must be a healthy male or female and of Japanese origin, aged between 20 to 45 years

Your grandparents on your mother’s and father’s side must be of Japanese origin

You will be reimbursed for your time and inconvenience

For further information about participating, contact Centre for Clinical Studies at the Alfred Hospital on 9207 1914 or email them at [email protected]

MessageI do totally understand your situation. You really have to psyche yourself so as to give you the requisite confidence to speak the language smoothly.

Speak slowly, no hurry, have confidence and you will be on your way there.

As to the difficulty in understanding what the others are saying....I suppose you really have to ask them to say it again. We have so many different kinds of people in Melbourne and they speak English with different accent. It is no doubt difficult to understand it all.

I can't believe I've already been in Melbourne for over four years! and still have problem talking with confidence...I REALLY need to relax myself and enable myself to talk without anticipating of making mistakes!!! Does anyone here experience this feeling? Like when someone cannot understand certain word you say because of the funny accent, do any of you go 'blank' with sudden sense of panick?

aaaahhhhhhh.... smilie
