| Message | I grew up about 30 miles west of KIS and can still see the 106s chasing the T-33s over my house. The B-52s doing low level, trying to stay under the Calumet radar up on the Keweenaw. A few years later I was in the 410MMS, from 84-87, and can remember the 106s and that hard start afterburner kicking in, what a sound and an awesome sight as they blasted off the runway! Great to see this site and re-live some of the great times I had at KIS. Was a sad day when BRAC took it away! Great site and great job so far on 461! |

| Message | As a air force brat I have followed my father Lee Sr all around the the country and overseas on his tour of dutys. But In all the things I have seen is the look and pride on my fathers face with the restoring of this 106 plane. From all of the years it is true what they say a fighter family never forgets thier own they have and are bringing a piece of history and pride back to life. So from an Air Force brats point of view Thanks Dad for everything you and your friends deserve a great big round of appluse for a job well done I Just wish I stilled lived closer so that I could help more but from what I see in the pictures posted on the web sit the pride of the Air Force and the Pride of the people that worked and flew this planes when I was growing up has never waivered or faulted so thanks to all of you and job well done keep up the good work |

| Message | After everyone had left today, I walked over to 461 and gave her a little pat on the butt and as I headed out I turned around and gave her a little pat on the nose. She's been a good girl for us. She's been scraped on, she's been banged on, she's been modified, she's been riveted and she's been patched up. And now she looks good. She's almost ready for her new cloth's in the spring. Then she's off to join her other historical friends and tell her story about whst she did during the Cold War Era. I would like to thank the K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum and its staff for standing by us and supporting this great project from its beginning. I would also like to thank everyone for their generous contributions towards this project from the beginning. And now, on behalf of Lee Nellist and myself, we would like to thank all of the volunteers who have stepped up and forward to help get 56-0461 back to looking like a magnificant fighter interceptor she is. We thank everyone from the inception of Adopt-A-Six, The Sawyer Six and the F-106A Restoration Projects for their hard and dedicated work. Without you all, this never could have happened. Again, we thank the museum and encourage everyone to keep watching this new site as now our efforts will be concentrated on the museum until we can officially open it this coming spring. | Message | mA pleasant surprise to see this site!! This old MA-1 Weenie was out of country for a few weeks, and code 3 for a couple of weeks! The old 289 unit had to be re-stabilized and some new Steering dots installed! After a 120 hour alignment, and a checkout with an FDT, I'm fine! Ready to go again for another 120 hours of flight! Hope my next flight is Code 1!!! Lannie, I'll have to see if I still have those radome bolts! I'll let you know so I can get them to you before the radome needs to go back on! Great job, wish I was there to help! The 87th Jacket looked great in Germany, and I even got several very positive comments and inquiries about the squadron and the airplane! MArv |

| Message | How ironic the seat from 032 survived. 032 was Shot down on 1st NULLO as an ADP-1020 kill on 11 Oct 1994 from Holliman AFB, New Mexico. Did the seat survive? It undoubtedly crashed on land so that is possible. I would really like to find out the seat ended u[p where it did. Lee Nellist |
