MessageTo the Men and Women of the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company. I wrote this for you guys because my friend is a member of the Fire Company and since he joined I have found a great deal of respect for him and all of you.

you know my number
everyone knows my number
from the smallest child
to the eldest person

my number is called
for the sick, and the dieing
and the people who need my help
whatever the cause may be

you see my number
on engines and ambulances
on billboards and TV
and sometimes even shouted aloud

my number is not big
but its the most important
when you need my help
call and I will be there

for I share my number
for that one accursed day
we cried and prayed
we saw things that we can never forget

my number is big
but not long in length
because the brave men and women
on that day the world stood still

my number is simple
none can forget it
my number is 911
call it when you need me

thank you to the men and women who serve our community
