Okay, the whole taste thing...good post, BTW!!Even I don't like all the color paint in my house, BUT the determining factor is the $5.00 gallons at Lowe's...if all they have is Hot Pink, guess what folks? | Message | I really never think about what others would like as far as decorating or dressing, I pick what my husband and I like. I love pink so I decorate with pink, some of my kids say ugh! about my wallpaper, but I and my husband like wallpaper. I appreciate it when someone admires my taste, but that doesn't determine what I pick. I don't think it ever crossed my mind to pick something because it was the in-thing or what others liked. |

I do know there are a lot of people who do like me, but if they stopped liking me because of how I dressed, decorated, etc... then whatever... No, I don't care. Well, I guess if you throw my kids and wife into the mix, then I guess I do care a little bit, but not much... I'm going to be myself... |

| Message | Andrew - I'm not saying compliments aren't nice, but I'm not going to decorate or dress because someone else thinks it's cool - I'm going to decorate and dress the way that I like. I really don't care if others think I have 'bad taste' or not. The one exception would be you... I like for YOU to think I look good.   |

| Message | Okay, I'll be the one that doesn't agree with everyone else. I think that 'good taste' is a monster that does exist even if some don't believe in him. I also think that anyone who says that they don't care what other people think about them is not being honest with themselves. If no one liked you or what you wore or how you decorated it WOULD bother you, I'm sure. I think that it is more a question of priorities, because we all like compliments and we all want people to like us. I don't think that makes you superfical, wanting to be accepted is fairly common among us humans. I think that the important thing is that we don't put praise from other people or acceptance at the the top of our 'makes me happy' list. Then again maybe it's just me. |
