Message(Tuesday 1215) I was up today and flew the rest of TD10 with HAK. It was a good flight, there was no wind whatsoever so the conditions were good. The mission consisted of 8 landing patterns and a few SFO's (simulated flame out's). I did a few small errors but all in all it was good. I got an 8 which I'm pleased with. Tomorrow, the plan is to fly TD12. Then solo check depends on when we get the Dash-1 test done. It seems like we're going to have good weather the rest of the week so the fingers are crossed. Now it's time to study some Dash-1.

Message(Monday 1440) Done for today. We had a couple of lessons in Aerodynamics this morning and then it was on to briefing and some of us were up flying. I did some cockpit drills while the other guys were flying.
I won't be writing as much as I've done and in as much detail as I've done in my diary from now on. So from now on it's going to be somewhat shorter topics. If you're interested in reading more (and can read Danish), you can also read LOU's diary or JAS's diary on their websites with the addresses:
http://spaces.msn.com/members/pilot-lou/
http://spaces.msn.com/members/JAS-FLSK/
They both have good websites and info about how life is on flying school. Apart from that, the flying school's online diary will soon be online on: http://www.flyveskolen.dk/
Now it's on to studsy some more Dash1 to prepare for the coming test.

Message(Saturday 1115) Yesterday we probably had the best flying weather since we started flying school. No wind at all, perfect visibility and a clear sky. Too bad we had the party the day before.
On the way home from the base yesterday, I couldn't help thinking about how things are going to be in the near future. In a month or two, half of us wouldn't be on the team anymore if the statistics work. No matter who fails, wether it's me or the other guys, it's going to be hard! By now we really have a tight bond. Especially the 10 of us who have gone to sergeant school together. We're almost like brothers. A few days ago a day passed where I had hardly seen KER, since I was busy preparing for a flight and later on flying, and when I was on the ground, he was busy doing something elsewhere. In the evening I simply had to go and knock on his door to see how he was doing. It's strange but he said the same thing. It was so odd that a whole day had passed without meeting. We had almost missed eachother. So when we've been to solo-check and some have failed, it's going to be damn hard to say bye, no matter if it's me or them who fails.
Enough of that sad crap for now. We go to the world's best school and we're enjoying life as long as it lasts. All we can do is help eachother when in need and do our best to hang on. Now it's time to enjoy the weekend.

Message(Friday 1150) We had a great evening yesterday. First a good game of paintball where we got some agressions out, and then it was time for dinner and entertainment...and beer! Afterwards, some of the guys went on to Silkeborg city and danced the night away (or something). I chose to stay home together with HAN, LUB, PLA and BLI. We had a good time and got to sleep a few more hours than the other guys. This morning we had swimming and meteorology. Then, our Flight Safety instructor, BOK, told us that we have briefing and asked if anyone wasn't up for flying. Everyone raised their hands of course, and he was happy. He just wanted to check our attitude towards alcohol/flying. BOK is an ex fighter pilot with background on Draken and F16, so he always has some good stories to tell.
Now it's time for a couple of lessons in aerodynamics, and then it's weekend! Have a nice weekend.

Message(Thursday 1035) Programme for the rest of the day is 4 Navigation lessons. I just uploaded some pictures of the T33 that will be placed on a pedestal in front of the hangar at the flying school. The wings arrived yesterday and the fuselage arrived the day before. I will take more pictures as the project advances...

Message(Thursday 0955) Just landed and debriefed. The flight went very well, however we had to abort due to low clouds, rain and bad visibility. We started off, the IP gave me an SFO (simulated engine flame out) at 800 feet, so I switched the Auxiliary fuel pump on, lowered the nose to the optimal glide angle to maintain 80Kts and chose a field to land on; It went well and at about 100 feet above ground, the IP took over and established a climb so that we could continue. So we continued, left the landing pattern, approached the training area, did the checks, then did about 10 stalls, descents, checks and flew back towards the landing pattern. Unfortunately as we approached the airbase, the clouds got lower, it started raining and visibility deteriorated drastically, so we had to abort. But all in all I'm happy with the flight.
I think that they'll give us some theory lessons from now until we're off. Then, as you know, tonight we have the mid-way party, where we're going for some paint ball, eating dinner together and drinking a beer or two and then enjoy eachother's company untilwe can keep it going. Catch u later...

Message(Tuesday 0735) We have a theory day ahead of us. The weather isn't up for flying, so it fits very well with the plan.
Yesterday JØR came over and asked if we should cockpit drill together. Since I didn't have any more important plans, I said yes of course. So then he asked with a smile: 'Are you sure that PLA won't get jealous or anything?'
'We're not married or anything' I said smilie
Then later on during the evening I was studying alone in my room and JAS came over and asked if we should study the flight manual together. So we started off and used some time preparing for the upcoming Dash 1 test.
This Thursday we have our mid-way party where we're going to play some paint ball and eat some good food together. Then in the evening we will party and enjoy eachother's company as long as we can stay awake. The IP's have made an easy programme for us Friday, so that's very considerate of them...
Now it's time for a lesson in Air Laws. Later on we have Meteorology, English and finish off with physical training.

Message(Monday 1345) Ok, I suppose I got my answer with regards the weather. The weather is good today, but it'll get worse and worse as time goes by this week, and by the end of the week we should have proper fall weather conditions.
I flew again today, with my new instructor HAK of course. The flight went really well, however we flew TD11 instead of TD10 due to clouds in the assigned airspace for TD10. I was relaxed in the cockpit and did it good except for a 'big goof,' as the instructor called it. I was on base leg for a touch and go and rather close to the aircraft in front of me, so I decided to extend base leg for spacing: BAD idea! I would have come in conflict with the traffic for the main runway if the IP hadn't corrected me. So that cost! I got an 8 for the flight. The IP said that it would have been a clean 9 if I hadn't goofed that one smilie
All in all I did 12 landings (11 touch and gos and 1 full stop) today, and 4 simulated engine flame outs shortly after take off. It was all great fun and I feel that I really learned alot once again.
That's it for now.

Message(Sunday 1015) I can't help thinking about when the weather will change for the worse. It's amazing that we still have beautiful clear blue skies and temperatures above 20 degrees one week away from October.
I talked to my dad yesterday. This weekend they have the yearly airshow and this year it's quite a good one. My dad says that this year they have quality rather than quantity. Among the aircraft participating is a USAF B1B Lancer, RAF Spitfire and Hurricane, FAF Mirage 2000 and the usual aircraft, which are great none the less, like Harriers, Hawks, Tornados, F16's etc. and The RAF Red Arrows as aerobatic team.
The last few years I had visited Malta during the airshow every year, it had become a kind of tradition, however this year I broke the tradition for something better. My dad met all the usual friends and relatives, and they all asked how I'm doing and how far I've come. He said that it's like they all own a part of me, and they all feel proud of my achievments. It feels great and I hope not to disappoint them.
I'll do whatever it takes to make it all the way and have the carreer that I always worked for. I'm thankful for being where I am today and wouldn't give it up for the whole world (litteraly!).
Now it's time to get some breakfast and then to dig in those books

Message(Friday 1230) Almost weekend. PLA and myself just got back from the control tower. We stood out there in the balcony and watched the other students do their touch and gos. I actually think that it's a good idea to see the other guys land from the tower once in a while, especially when there's a steady crosswind like today.
Soon, we're going to have the famous 'Dash 1' test, which is a test in the aircraft's manual, normal procedures, emergency procedures, limitations and flight theory. It's big test and the exam follows soon afterwards and it has to be passed before you can fly solo. The only problem is that the pass mark is 85% smilie
So it's going to be a long study weekend.
That's it for now. Have a nice weekend.
