Message(Sunday 0915) Just got up and to what a surprise. My website, email address and youtube channel have all been hacked. I think I can get charge of my website back but the email address and youtube chanel are probably lost. That's all for now. Any updates will be written in here as they arrive.

Message(Saturday 1335) Just got back from Regina where I went to a local hobby store to buy the last equipment needed to complete the Hawk model. So this afternoon I'll be busy working on it. Then tonight I'm invited to a birthday party at some Canadian friends. I won't drink too much as last night was a hard one. After the TGIF mess we went to the Dane bar and sung and drank the night away. I left at about 0315 but some of the others partied on. It's a great place to go to.
An army convoy stopped over at the base yesterday afternoon. Apparently they're on their way to a six week exercise and Moose Jaw happens to be half way to the destination so they stopped over for the night. Then in the evening I was at the mess and I could see this older Army guy outside the door so I went over to him. "Is this an all rank mess or an officer's mess, sir?" he asked. I told him that it was an officer's mess and that the NCO mess was probably closed. I could see on him that he just wanted a cold beer. So I told him that he would be allowed inside as long as he's somebody guest and that he could be my guest. "Really, sir?" he said? So I showed him in and we grabbed a beer and had a chat. He had been a weapons mechanic in the Navy and now he was a weapons mechanic in the Army. In over 20 years of military service he had never been inside an officer's mess so he was really happy that I invited him in. It's always nice meeting new people and hearing about their walk of life. It is so rewarding.

Message(Friday 1235) End of the week is here and all the Danes except for myself are taking time off next week so that they have a proper Easter holiday.
In about half an hour there's going to be a briefing about "life as a fighter pilot." It's another motivation initiative for the Canadians. Apparently they're screaming for F18 drivers and the Canadian students would rather fly helos and multis than fly fast air. So, lately, when the classes had their selections they've had to "force" students to go into the fast jets community! Yes, as unbelievable as that may sound, that's the case here in Canada. If only that was the case with our Air Force. To be honest, with all the insecurities ahead in mind, if I got the opportunity to fly Hornets for the Canadians for a few years and the Danish Air Force was fine with it, I would take it! That way I'd be flying an awesome jet while "helping" them resolve their lack-of-pilots problem.
Have a great weekend!

Message(Wednesday 1615) Half way through the week and I had another sim this morning. It was IF6S where I did the local departure, point to points and holding patterns utilising all three entry methods. It was good fun and at one point my instructor gave me a non-critical emergency during a turn in the hold. I asked if he had gotten bored but he replied by saying "No, it's you who seems to be boring yourself in there." So I secured the emergency and continued. All in all it was a good flight which ended with another snake for the collection. Today's instructor is not only a sim instructor but also a Harvard II test pilot for Bombardier, which is the company that runs the NFTC programme. He has also flown Boeing 727's for an airline for a few years after being an instructor on the Tutor jet for some years in the Canadian forces. It must be great to have flown such a diversity of aircraft.
By the looks of it I'm not on tomorrow's programme but things change very rapidly sometimes so I'll be prepared in any case.
Now I'm gonna do some work on the Hawk RC model and if I remember I'll have some dinner later on too.
Spring is definitely here. All the snow has basically melted. There are only a few patches left in places where it's constantly in the shade.

Message(Tuesday 1555) We had the test this morning and all made it ok I think. Myself I got 96%. The Canadians seem to have got better grades than us Danes this time. When that happens you start wondering if they had some dirty trick up their sleeves as it's the only time that they got a higher score than us. Not to worry. Everyone's happy that ground school is over, and especially IFP.
My sim this afternoon got cancelled for some reason and that didn't bother me much to be honest. However, JØR asked if we should take a practise sim each after work and I said yes, which I have come to regret a bit. We're going to be in the sim from 1730 to 2020. We should be out drinking beers on a day like today when we just finished IFP. I normally take practise sims in the weekend and judging by how much I feel like it today, I'll be taking them in the weekends again in the future.
My Hawk RC model arrived today. There's quite alot of work to be done on it but it's perfect timing that it arrived now that IFP is over and the Easter "holidays" are on the way. So I'll get it done and ready and maybe testflown before too long, but as I said, there's alot of work to be done in order to get it the way I want it.

Message(Monday 2015) I don't think I've mentioned, but I didn't win the mustache competition. Everyone was sure that I had it all secured but somehow I didn't win. The judges were the two hair dressers from the base. I'm not a customer there as I always use the shaver to cut my own hair. Also, what do a couple of chicks know about growing a mustache? I don't know what criteria they used for finding a winner but many people were surprised.
Tomorrow we have the IFP final exam at 0730 and I feel quite confident considering the last prog test in the subject. After the exam I have a IF6S sim and I hope that I'll be well awake and not all tired after the four hour exam.
It feels great that ground school will be over tomorrow. Then we can just concentrate on flying when the time comes.
Now it's time to hit the books and memorize some numbers for tomorrow. I basically know all of the rules but there are also alot of numbers to remember in order to have the big picture. Good night!

Message(Saturday 1735) I probably had the busiest Saturday in all my time in Moose Jaw today. Normally I almost bore myself to death in weekends here because there's so little to do.
The day started off with giving JØR a hand with his practise sim at 1000. After that we went to the gym and did a good work out. Then it was time for lunch so we went downtown to the cornerstone pub and got some food. We took his car there but I was the designated driver as he wanted to have a beer for lunch so I drove his Corvette. It's a nice car and very powerful too. One thing I really like about it is the Head Up display on the windscreen. It's neat!
After getting home I packed my two model aircraft in the car and headed to the base where I had agreed to meet with a couple of Canadians. One of them couldn't make it as he had other plans but the other guy brought two models, an F9F Hellcat and a P51 Mustang. We had a great time and flew for over an hour in all and when we were done we weren't even cold. It was just awesome weather today. Perhaps a bit too muddy on the grass so I opted to belly land the F16 model on asphalt rather than grass to avoid risking of getting water and wet snow in the intake and shorting all the electronics inside...
At 1800 I'm invited for a BBQ at some Candian friends (yeah, for them this isn't winter) and after that I'll be heading off to Hamster to watch the F1 race. I'll try not to be too late as I have a practise sim at 0900 tomorrow.

Message(Friday 1440) Today's sim went ok too but I haven't got the grade sheet yet. I got a snake for yesterday's sim and hopefully today's was also a snake but I'll just have to wait and see.
According to the IFP theory instructor, yesterday I got the highest score in class in the IFP prog test. I just hope that I do just as well in the final exam on Tuesday.
The weather still surprises me here. This week it snowed alot and once again everything is white and well covered with snow. Really irritating when so much of the snow from the winter had melted away.
According to the locals, they don't really have spring here. It goes from brutally cold to brutally warm. That's just the kind of climate that you get when you're so far away from the ocean.
Tomorrow I've agreed with a couple of French Canadians that we're going to the football pitch to fly model airplanes. The weather forecast is looking promising. Then Saturday night I'll be watching the first Formula 1 race of the season with Hamster. The race is in Australia so it starts around midnight here, but we've agreed to watch it live. I just hope that I'm not too tired for Sunday's practise sim.
That's it for now. Stay tuned!

Message(Thursday 1700) Just got out of the sim which went ok but I haven't got the grade sheet yet.
I got 98.1% in the IFP3 prog test which I'm satisfied with. As I probably already mentioned, this coming Tuesday we have the final exam in IFP which will involve anything from block 1 to block 3. It's going to be a big one but the word is that block 3 prog test is actually always harder than the actual exam. Having said that, I'll give the last written exam my best shot.
Tomorrow is the day when the mustache competition ends. To be honest I can't wait to shave this bloody broom off my lip which has been bugging me alot.
Now it's time to go home and get some dinner. It seems like I'm on tomorrow's programme for another sim so I want to be prepared for that too.

Message(Thursday 1330) We had the IFP block 3 progress test this morning, which is known to be the hardest written test of the whole course. There is good reason for it being known as the hardest one because it really was. We're still waiting patiently for the results but it'll be a while for them to arrive. The test itself was four hours long and I am just wasted now.
Later on today I'm supposed to have IF4* sim but instead I'll be doing IF5S with alot of new stuff. Hopefully I can concentrate on what I'm doing. Right now I just feel like taking a long nap.
I'll let you know when I get the test result.
