MessageFormer member of the founding tent. After writing to Michael Agee, from Hal Roach studios, about the upcoming Hal Roach DVD boxset, he has refused to respond (after the intial email he sent me) to my question about what is NEW in regards to JUST Laurel and Hardy as a team. He originally told me that Liberty, Slipping Wives and Love'Em and Weep have been upgraded. My question was, since I all ready spent well over $225 on HIS Lost Films of Laurel and Hardy DVD series, Except for those 3 are the film transfers from the Lost Series exactly the same as the new boxset in regards to the Boys? I know he read that question twice (we both have AOL so you can see when your email is read).
I don't feel like shelling out more money for something I all ready have in regards to the Boys. TRUE, the boxset includes the Little Rascals and many other non Laurel and Hardy films from the Roach Studios. So if anyone has this answer I would appreciate an email. I was wondering that maybe he added more sound effects, ala Blackhawk Films did, or changed one or two films that looked washed out. (Purple Moment comes to mind)
THANKS
FRATERNALLY
Robert

MessageThis is my first time on your site, or any re: L&H. I mentioned them today to my twin 12-year old boys, and they just looked at me quizically and said, "Huh?" It was at that moment that I realized they had no idea WHAT{nevermind WHO!} I was talking about; this sort-of-horrified me! I was commenting on their physical appearance together, as one of the twins is now taller and much leaner than the other. I then begun repeating a reference to show I watched last nite on the History Channel called "The Legacy of Star Wars," in which the narrator identifies the comic relief of R2D2 & C3PO as [being in the comic tradition of "Laurel & Hardy."] I immediately ordered them to the Search Engine, but as I turned on the computer tonite, I found their search criteria: "Laura in Hardy." Thanks to your website, they will not go another day without some knowledge of L&H, who I guess I got to know through television growing up in the USA in the 70's. Friday nite will now be L&H nite, assuming I can find some video material at our local library. So, again, thank you for your work. I am a single-Mom, long-divorced from a super-geek whose behavior made me loathe the computer (by its association with him in my mind and heart)for years. I am, therefore, only now, after 13 years of distance, at the age of 42, becoming reacquainted with the "thing," which is much different from the pull-down menu, non-internet-existent machine I once used and liked. L&H seem to fit the bill for my re-entry to life!
