| Message | Hi Anna, Like Fran I salivate when I read your blog as the food sounds great! However, I will be in London for 3 days next week and have offered to take Fran out for a meal on 13 Oct- that is if her tutor allows her out! Che Guavara's daughter's lecture sounds excellent. I am hoping to see The Motocycle Diaries too. The actor is gorgeous. I posted a birthday card to you yesterday -I am told it takes 5 days so hopefully you will get it before your birthday - let me know if it arrives okay. If you are off Uni from Dec to Feb would you prefer it if Joanie and I came to se you in Jan or Feb instead of March? Or would we be too much coming straight after your mam and dad?  We would stay at a hotel to cause minimum disturbance and avoid your cockroach roomies! If you want to travel during your vacation it might not be such a good idea. | Message | Oh and Hannah, I hestitate at passing judgement over your band name 'Atlantic Love' while I'm resident at the school of ruthlessness. You ask so sweetly not to be shot down in flames, so I'm refraining from outrightly saying that it sucks ass...but don't ya have to be cruel to be kind? No? Ok I will go easy: it's a little on the cheesey side. But the sentiment is worthy, so if you wanna stick with that thought perhaps the more catchy, 'Atlantic Romantic'? Or just dump the touchy feely stuff all together and go for something more riot grrrl like: AtlanticGiganticbitchwhoresfromhell. That's my recommendation. | Message | Hello Annie. Your blog makes me very hungry with all this talk of fantastic and tasty sounding food-'specially since I have the munchies and haven't had me dins yet. While you're relaxing in the sun, chomping on taco after taco and washing it down with exotic fruit juices (I don't envy you the salty limey stuff tho) please spare a thought for big sis who is eating crappy canteen sandwiches on the hoof. Today we were told by my (cool but drill sergent-esque) tutor that as journalist students we don't really have lunch breaks. We worked through lunch both today and yesterday busy with studio work, writing briefs and filming. Yesterday got to uni at 8am, finished at 7pm. Today started at 9am and my lectures finished half an hour ago. It is now 8pm. She is very into kick ass-wake up smell the coffee-this is the REAL world tough love. I am in TV bootcamp....and I gotta shape up! Perhaps it is about time I had a bit of discipline in my life. It is certainly a humbling experience. She has cut throat tactics such as naming and shaming which involves reading out all of our shitty marks, the ritual humiliation of having our work ridiculed and mercilessly dissected in front of our peers and god forbid you are late for class! Perhaps somewhat peversely I really like her- everyone does...it seems to be a trial by fire, toughen up or die sorta experience. I WILL live through this! I WILL be strong! Am focusing on my Chrimbo Mexican adventure to see me thru! Fran x |

| Message | I have a break in the madness this afternoon so I've decided to try and sort my life (and decided that while I'm on I could sort yours out too!) Mammy is too chickensheeeeet to ask cos most of her control freaky requests tend to be met with a disgruntled stop nagging me bitch response. A more lenient interpretation of her approach is parental concern, however, I too have a tendency to get annoyed when at 25, living in a city 350 miles away, I am still being told to stop staying out late and advised that I'm drinking too much and spending too much money. So generally u have my sympathies. But I fink maybe she has a point being slightly worried about petting rabies infested stray dogs and not knowing where in the world you are lil sista! So lettuce know your contact details... if you want any birthday cards, well-wishing phone calls or just general poop thru the post you're gonna have to let all your adoring fans know where you live and what your phone number is divvy! Being chucked out of computer room by a bloke from the uni IT staff who looks like the magazine store guy from The Simpsons. Oooh shit- he's seen me! So better goBye for now |

| Message | Yo sis. Sorry for the lack of communication over the last few days- just a bit overwhelmed with actually having to work hard for a change! Also still living in the hotel so t'internet access remains far from fantastic. God I am SO tired chica! Thankfully I'm not the only one- me & my fellow TV CAJ's (that's TV Current Affairs Journalists to mere morals like you) are surviving only with regular injections of caffine during the constant barrage of lectures & practical work. Undoubtedly I am being worked like a beyotch but I'm really enjoying my course & learning lots. And greeno, I would like to add for the record that the gallon of coffee I'm quaffing per day is fairtrade. Also (tho I'm not quite there yet)I'm still bordering back on veggieness (due not from a nagging conscience but from an unfortunate incident with a few pints of stella followed by fried chicken and bbq ribs. Vomitus maximus and -to steal a phrase from HRH old queenie-anus horriblis  ). Eeeeeew.Rank. My apologies. Anyhoo, BBC was really cool. We all got terribly excited by looking out over the Blue Peter garden & seeing Andy Peters in the canteen. We also had a mystery guest speaker at the end of the day who turned out to be Huw Edwards (the 10 o'clock BBC news reader)& gathered lots of inside information about the Beeb: Kate Adie is off her baps apparently. Spent an exciting day in the newsroom & got on telly by walking thru the background of news 24! Hehe fame at last eh hin?! Take care x |
