MessageHave just come across this site and have found it excellent. The condition of some of the War of Indeependence memorials in this country are a dissgrace. Now is the time for all local communities to make an effort to restore these memorials to the rightful standard. Is it a case that we have forgotten the sacrifices made by earlier generations.

MessageGreat site and some good links. My family name 'Collins' inspired this search. To find out that Michael Collins died on the 22nd of Aug. was beyond belief, my birthday is 22 Aug. I have never thought much about my heritage until marrying an Irish girl one year ago. I hope that I'm related in some way to Michael and will some day see a free Ireland!

Messagesmilie Great site, very informative. I would like to find out more about West Cork Third Brigade. I believe my Grandfather served in it. Tom Barry mentions my Grandfather in his book, Guerilla Days In Ireland. My Grandfather was Patrick Cadogan from Drimoleague, Cork. He left Ireland soon after the War but returned to lived in Skibereen. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

MessageBrillant Site. Extremely well researched and presented. Like previous people have said it is good to see that this portion of Irish history is not forgotten.

This is one of the best sites I have seen on the Tan War period. Congratulations to the creators. smilie

God bless the men who fell at Upton.

MessageIn memory of my uncle, Jack O'mahony who was shot by Black & Tans in Passage West, County Cork on 28 Feb. 1921. May he rest in peace.
