MessageI won't be able to come, although I would love to, but we were at my husband Jim Bennetts reunion last October at can't manage to come to SF twice in 6 months. The June 59 reunion was fabulous, it was just pure pleasure to see old friends and acquaintances after 50 years. The blog was also interesting to read about our old,but distant, friends lives after 50!!years. Jim Bennett and I married in 1966 and were going to take time off for one year starting JUly 1967, but the Egyptians closed off the Straits of Tiran in May 66 which led to the Six Day War. We found we were obssessed by what was going on,eventhough neither of us had any religious or Zionist background. So we decided to start our year of travelling by going to Israel as volunteers. WE did travel in December , but missed the exciting, messy, outdoor, people centered and mediterrean lifestyle that is Israel. We decided to try to make our lives here. I worked with an NGO that helps Americans and Canadians who want to live in the Jewish state settle in. Jim worked in PR for the Technion and then in real estate and Contracting. We were sent abroad twice,2 years eachtime once to Montreal and once to NYC. as representatives of Israel. We have 3 sons and so far 8 grandchildren, who are all very close to us . I'm in very close contact with Barbara Kossen Margolis, Who is the sister I neverhad. I would love to hear from, about Carol Zipkin,SallyOconnell,Mickey Mcconnell,Leslie Lang,LoisKaplan, JoyceMiller.Bennett@Coral.co.il.

MessageHi y'all: Nice to read Pauline's and other classmates' messages. Half a century has gone by, and the world has surely changed a lot; it seems like our life in the 1957-1960 era was so-o-o much simpler (esp. air travel). Manual/electric typewriters back then, with dirty blue/black carbon paper to make oneself copies. Now, virtually everyone has a computer, does email and simple word-processing, and can blast a message to a whole group of friends around the world -- in a few seconds, attaching photos and video links, no less . . .

Over the weekend, I decided to come to the big reunion event. Will be bringing a guest, so a note to Lenore/Dave, I'll RSVP online soon and will mail you a check for $190 next week.

Cheers,
Henry smilie

MessageHi to my fellow classmates of 59 & 60...I remember almost everyone & with great memories of a wonderful group of people. Would like to attend the reunion, but doubt at this point it is possible due to timing, but life is full of surprises, so you never know...

Someone wrote in & mentioned Leigh Callaway--All I know is that he was in my homeroom--a hunk from heaven with the most gorgeous eyes--would love to see him again, as I always wondered over the years what he did in his life. He was strong & silent...& stood out from the crowd. I will also missing seeing Jerry ( lanky, tall, red hair, Frank Card, his pal, & Norval Ayres & Tony Ivelich, Marty Harband, & Charlie Sugarman, Marty Weinstein, who used to make me laugh. Looking back, they were fun, fun, fun....

I LOVED my Lowell years---and often reflect on what a great time it was...Attended Berkeley & graduated from UCLA after that...enjoyed UCLA....the BEST experience....

I've spent the majority of my life in SoCal-loving the weather for 36 years...I owned the premier staffing agency in L.A., the Right Connections, specializing exclusively in the entertainment industry for 24 years, sold it in 2005, and now design & sell jewelry...Who would have thunk???? A glamorous, exciting life ...NOW a little more subdued & lower key....but creative & enriching.

So that's my update. Elizabeth Dana if you are out there, please say "hi".. A big hello to Marilyn May, Joan Samuels, Joelle Werthen, Phyllis Levin.... smilie

MessageHello y'all "young at heart" Lowell friends:

Saw some of you at our 40th reunion in North Beach, SF, and hope you are all doing well. Happy New Decade!

In Nov. 2008, I moved after a long stay in SF to a suburb of Fort Worth TX, to stay with my elder daughter Sylvia's family (two grandkids, Emma, 12, Joe, 9). Still have a younger daughter, Shana, 28 -- who works as a marketing mgr at Recurve, a SF "green" startup downtown. (Shana is flying into Austin tomorrow, and I'm driving there to meet her for the weekend.) I don't think I need to tell y'all that that the North Texan culture here is way different than California's, and esp. SF's. Things are cheaper here, but the Chinese food can't even begin to compare ( . . think Panda Express, Hong Kong Express, etc.)

To sum up my 40-yr hi tech career: After getting my BS and MS in civil/structural engineering from Berkeley, I worked as an aerospace structural engineer at four major Southern California companies. Then, I switched careers to do documentation, marketing, and business development/worldwide sales support at two Bay Area computer firms, Fujitsu/HAL and Sun Microsystems. Retired in 2006. It might shock some of you, but I've been married three times (my 3rd wife Evelyn died in 2003)

Will try my best to come to our reunion in SF, and see all of you that evening on March 20th. Meanwhile, be healthy and smile.

Happy Year of the Tiger (Valentine's this year),
Henry smilie

MessageLenore:

Thank you so much for organizing this event. I attended a Southern California Lowell Alumni gathering during the summer, but prior to that, I have never been to any Lowell Alumni event; therefore I am really looking forward to seeing friends and colleagues from so long ago. I am the ordained pastor at St. Philip's Anglican Church in Coalinga, CA and reside in Visalia, California where I am also Executive Director of the Tulare County Symphony. (always the overachiever) I am married with four children, three grandchildren and a new grandchild on the way. For any who might remember me, please feel free to make contact.
