MessageI had to wipe the tears from my eyes...my basketball net or pitch-back does not have the same intrinsick (?) value as a family-loved rink. When most of the world sees the cold air from the north coming they get depressed...The Millins come alive...beating hearts to a different drummer...or goalie I suppose.

MessageHey Scott,

I began building our rink back in 1985. Ironically, I was working in Natick at the time and read a magazine article from Jack Falla titled "The Warmth of the Ice". Our rink is 38' x 85' with nets, lighting, rubber walkways, underground power and water. The worst problem is that we live in Bridgewater, MA where it isn't quite as cold as we'd like it. I really enjoyed your site! Keep it going!

MessageScott, your site is awesome! Although Debbie's description of "the rink" was extensive, I didn't realize quite how serious she was. I'm not a hockey player myself, but I can recognize good craftsmanship when I see it - I look forward to hearing more about the rink at the next HSP outing!

Debbie, I think you need to get some new skates...

MessageDebbie -

thanks for sharing this site....

Scott, I look forward to meeting you sometime soon, and your rink is totally AWESOME! If I could figure out how to keep ice from melting here in Cali (plus, learn how to skate - LOL)...I would totally put one in my backyard.

Enjoy the ice this year...Go Sharks! ;-)

MessageJeff, You didn't leave an email so I hope you find this! I have never sealed two liners together. It's a risky job but I know that some have done it w/o a problem by using the correct sealant...you also need a very calm, windless day and lots of space. I would pose your question to the Yahoo Backyard Rinkbuilders group (see link below). There is vast experience there that would love to help you out. Good luck! MessageWe love the progression of photos and await the skating! And the philosophical notes are a plus. On another note, if you're not using those frozen peas we could use them here. Remodeling & no kitchen forces us to eat frozen a lot more than usual!
