Messagearonofsky-

i am a great admirer of your work, you get a sense in viewing your work that you are in the hands of a master craftsman. there have been many admirable filmmakers but not many contemporary filmmakers of whom I hold such high regard for.

In each film there feels to be a new world worthy of exploration. About 15 minutes into viewing The Fountain I found myself deeply comforted by the cinematic aesthetic presented. It spoke to me that this film was not going to be compromised that for whatever reason you had been given the proper amount of control.

The Fountain is the film of yours that I understand the least, and I also find it more frightening than any of your other work. More terrifying and discomforting than the destructive lives of junkies in Requiem by far.

I came upon Requiem for a Dream when I was 18 years old, it had just come out on video. So I bought it, without knowing anything about it. And it was a trip, I didn't know cinema was allowed to go in the directions that that film chose to go. At that point in time I was a big Kubrick fan, so I understood directors were free create art, but there was something about seeing someone young and contemporary do it. Break rules, create their own rhythms. It was all magnificent.

I just recently saw the Black Swan trailer, it looks to be very beautiful, very wonderful. Keep making films, they are appreciated.

MessageI just saw "The Fountain" for the 4th time and the commentary for the 2nd time. I learn/feel/discovered sometime I watch the movie. This is truly a masterpiece and wish others could see it as I have seen it.

To answer one of your questions in the commentary, it's been about 4 years and the visuals are still stunning. I think it will be timeless.

Again, thank you for a wonderful experience. This is my favorite film compared to your other fantastic work, it is also my favorite film period.

MessageHello, Darren

I want to thank you and Rachel for creating "The Fountain", a pure beauty, that overwhelmed my mind completely and changed my life, one of the best and most touching movies I have ever seen, a total, unique masterpiece.

Which is also the most underrated one. It was not even screened in cinemas here in Poland, I discovered it only because I love your previous works. I cannot bear a thought it was possible that I might have never seen it.

I do not know what sort of complete idiots wrote reviews of The Fountain, I get furious every time I think about problems you had to deal with before and while making this movie.

It's now a truly dark age of cinema and culture in general, when whole art gradually disappears and all that's left is a product to be sold well. But I'm filled with hope, because such a geniuses like you still last out.

Thank you once more, you and your work will last forever!

MessageHello,
I saw "The Fountain" and captured me.
In the past I saw "Requiem for a Dream "and I was totally impressed, especially the soundtrack and the visual technique. The Fountain despite being totally different made me reflect on life and especially death. But I can not explain if the events we see in the film are all real or not say.

I have interpreted it in this way: the conquistador's story is not real but it's based on the Izzy's book and these scenes are a result of reading the book by Tommy.

The part in futuristic bubble I've seen as the final book written by Tommy said as Izzy on the roof that history began in Spain and ended in the dying star by adding the Mayan history of the seed buried with the corpse and tree. I would be honoured for its response and its clarification. Follow you. Your work is very interesting and innovative way to continue!

MessageDecent webbie, however, I was disappointed to find that the link for the commentary is no longer valid. I was really looking forward to hearing the director commentary for this spectacular film, too bad. Thank you again, and Darren, keep up the great work!
