MessageI served aboard Randolph from April 1962 through March 1964, as a RMSN(R) in CR Division. Lots of good memories of the old girl, I wish that I could go and visit her again, but she's been cut up for razor blades, I guess. We made a Med cruise, visiting Valencia, Barcelona, Cannes, Naples and Palermo, among others.
I'll never forget the experiences... Cannes and Naples especially stick in my mind!
We also made a Caribbean cruise subsequently, and participated in the Cuban blockade. I was pretty detached in those days, politically speaking, and really had no idea of just how close we were to becoming embroiled in WWIII, or kicking off some sort of nuclear winter! Ignorance is bliss, I guess... :)

Any of my shipmates who served while I was aboard, please email me, we might be able to share some memories!

Anybody remember the Truscott brothers in the Radio gang? Or Kenny Ellwanger in OE Division?
I'd like to touch base, if possible.

This is a great website, many thanks to those who make the effort to maintain it!

MessageI served on the Randolph from August 57 to Nov 58 in the V6 Division. I vaguely remember Carlos Ellis since I used to alternate with Tom Klumpers (AT3) on the TF. I would like to hear from any of the people in the old Bomb Director Shop - Dutch Holland, Frankel, Tirotti.

Summer 47 was the Midshipmsn cruise to Northern Europe and the UK. MessageMy father served on the USS Randolph I believe from 1944-46. His name was Walter Edward Lawler. My sister has a map from him that outlines the ships travels. I would love to find a copy of this map for myself. He passed away in 2003. In the corner of the map it Says, " Air Force, Pacific Fleet Table Chart #1. 1 Jan. 1945. Reproduced by Enginler(?) Map Reproduction Plant USA. CPA".

Please contact me with any information. It would mean so much to me.

Thank you, Lori Cranston
