MessageI WAS 8 YRS OLD {10-10-45} WHEN MY PARENTS ADOPTED ME. MY FIRST TRIP WAS THE SUMMER OF (1954?)I THINK AND MY FATHER'S YOUNGEST BROTHER WAS COMMISSIONED TO THE USS RANDOLPH.
MY FIRST VISION WAS THE BLUES' SKY AND
ALL THESE SOLIDERS IN THEIR DRESS WHITE'S STANDING AT THE RAIL, WAVING TO EVERYONE. AS A VERY YOUNG AND IMPRESSIONABLE LITTLE GIRL THIS WAS REALLY SOMETHING!
I HAD TOLD MY MOM AND DAD THAT I SAW MY UNCLE MURRY, BUT OF COURSE WE LATER FOUND OUT THAT HE WAS ASLEEP BECAUSE HE HAD THE LATE SHIFT.

MY UNCLE WAS --MURRAY F. ARMSTRONG FROM ILLINOIS.

MessageI served aboard the Randolph from the summer of 1962 until April 1964. I was assigned to S-1 Division. It really brings back memories when I read the guestbook. When I read Johnie Jackson (page 21) I feel like I do know him but I can't be sure. I remember the things that he does.
After being discharged I went into lawenforcement. I retired after 30 1/2 years. I retired as a lieutenant. I am a member the American Legion and still have a place in my heart for my fellow service men. I also have a grand son in the Air Force. If any of you know me or remember me or don't know me at all feel free to e-mail me. We can chew he fat about the Randolph.
