MessageAndrys, I want to thank you for a wonderful website. I became a big Martha Argerich fan fairly recently and can't describe how helpful your site has been!! She deserves the incredible effort that you've clearly put into this. I'm truly grateful.

What site-area(s) drew your interest?Argerich events
MessageClaire and others,

I'm going to be changing the events page and listing the events in non-chart format and will be using information from two who have agreed to let me use and combine their lists.

I've not done a thing for a few months due to other projects taking over but I'll have time during this coming week, and it should be done by Wednesday the 20th.

Apologies to readers and contributors.

- Andrys

City/Town if you care to say:Nelson
MessageI think Martha should consider a holiday to New Zealand, in particular Nelson which is about to acquire a brand new Steinway from London for its school of music concert hall. A woman like Martha could find ample time to relax in the beauty of the South Island.

MessageTom,
See a description of the history of that shorthand at the following page:
http://bit.ly/wordorigins

The article is more harsh than I prefer, but its factual points are actually good. The word you object to has been shorthand for writing "Christmas" for hundreds of years, and the shorthand originated with the look of the original lettering and with Christians.

I'll quote from the ending words on that page:
----------
"Even Webster’s dictionary acknowledges that the abbreviation Xmas was in common use by the middle of the sixteenth century.
. . .
It is simply another way to say Christmas, drawing on a long history of symbolic abbreviations used in the church ...

Understanding this use of Christian symbolism might help us ... focus on more important issues of the Faith during Advent, and bring a little more Peace to the Xmas Season."
----------

I hope so.

What site-area(s) drew your interest?A Kindle World
How did you find the site?Usually excellent
MessageAlthough I'm sure you did not intend it as such, I was offended by the "X'ing" out of Christ in Christmas in a recent Kindle World article.

We don't use X-zaa for Kwanzaa or X-kka for Hanukkah, yet everyone seems okay with crossing out the most important part of the word, Christmas. Please stop being one of them.

Thanks for considering my request, Andrys.
