MessageAs Salaam al akum brother Ali,

Walk the earth and travel the lands, be as if you are a stranger, for your stay is short but sweet my brother.
The mystic path, the esoteric life of a dervish, humbled in reflection, drunk in love, said by some to be lost.
A battle of the will, a war of the soul, the ego is ever gaining control. 'O' mortals what would you know about this soldier born to die and then live evermore? 'O' soul why does thee call to me, seeking my presence in envy, jealousy and heeding my thoughts towards the foolish play of destiny. Don't think that yee will control my body and soul for being with thy Lord is the pressing goal. Chivilary, decency and prayer thats the nourishment, and pleasure that reside in my heart as the golden treasure, the air of Dhiker, the breath of my soul reciting 'YA HAQ' YA Allah, YA RABB your my ultimate goal.
O warrior seek ye the path to your lord, conquer the enemy within your soul, suppress the ego, destroy the idols that reside in your nafs and the body whole. I too am a journey man seeking the path come yee join the struggle let us share our divine troubles for the path is clear yet dark at times and the light that shines may not come for some time, so help thy brother in need and come to thee for I see that yee are a man sent by God in urgency. So I summon thy Tracelesswarrior to appear before thee as the glorious servant of The ALL MIGHTY!

Wa lay Kum As Salaam

MessageFound your blog on Steven Barnes Dar Kush (he is one of my all-time favorite authors).

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on politics, martial arts, knives, teaching, etc. I really do appreciate it. I have a chance to go to Tanzania next summer, and I just noticed some of your earlier posts (I am hooked)

I dropped you a line in the past regarding silat instructors in NYC, but I think it may have been lost in the spam filter smilie

Is there an online resource you would suggest for finding out more about Silat, or schools?

thanks again

-Sean

MessageI just wanted to say I love your thoughts on what a warrior is and your humility it's a very rare quality these daysit's refreshing. I to study a fairly obscure art called capoeira. It is derived mainly from Angola Africa and involves knife and razor fighting incorperated into a dance. My old instructor also use to teach a African wrestling called Kemet (very nice ground play) and also a African weapons system known as Kayti. It involves stick play(long and short), Machete, And various knives. It is mainly from Kenya. I no longer study with this teacher and can find no information on Kayti. I was wandering if you knew any info on it or knew where I could find some. Thank you for your insights and please keep blogging.

MessageWow. That about sums it up. Wow. I learned of your blog from Steve Perry's blog and started reading it a few days ago. I read your current page and got hooked. So, I started at the beginning. I'm only up to March 2005, and I am enjoying and learning every minute I spend reading. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and life with us.

MessageHi Mushtaq

An insightful, funny, thought-provoking, controversial, educational and always congruent with your sense of integrity.

I've learned much about world politics and various other useful aspects of life from you. It's been a great journey.
