| Message | John (also known as Joel in one census) Briggs and Sophia Fairbanks of Erie county, PA 1840's, had a son George Wilson Briggs 22 Feb 1844. George Wilson Briggs and Harriet Leaver of Cedar Falls, IA had a son Charles Francis 30 Dec 1876. Charles Francis Briggs and Edla Munsson married Denver, CO but had 2 sons in Butte, MT: Stacy Ivan Briggs(deceased), my father, and his brother, who prefers to remain anonymous at this time because of his privacy concerns (he is 91 yrs old). The DNA of S.I.Briggs' brother has been posted and is apparently very likely a new line. There is the strong family history that John had siblings: William Briggs and Zepheniah Briggs and Phoebe Briggs Shontz of Crawford county, PA and Henry Briggs of Erie county, PA. There may have been other siblings but nothing real definite. No parents to any of these can be found. There is the suggestion that a Caleb Briggs and Polly Harrington Briggs of NY and LeBouef twp, Erie county, PA where Caleb died are related and could be the parents. After Caleb's death, Molly/Mary moved back to Elbridge, Onondaga county, NY where she died and is buried in the family plot of Mt. Pleasant cem. Any help is greatly appreciated. | Message | Was seaching on Familysearch, then to Dyer Family website which linked me to here!!! It is going to be SO Great to explore your site and other related sites. My Aunt did our genealogy, most of old Quaker families of Portsmouth and RI are included! Now the torch has passed to me; I hold many family Bible records and am having fun "learning". Have 3 brothers and a living father, but not sure if we could ever persuade them to be a part of the DNA testing...oh well. |
