MessageOne wish : Turn the clock back to the first time I ever heard the track 'Just got Lucky', not only because I would still be 17, but because this song single handedly moved me in a way music had never done before....& rarely since.
It's both upbeat & hauntingly beautiful at the same time & after hearing the guys play it live, I realised that the world could still produce true musicians (this was at a time when manufactured pop was coming to the forefront of everything hoping to chart!)
In short, the world is a far worse place after the demise of The Joboxers, but the legacy of their music is timeless. smilie

MessageWhenever I hear the song "Just Got Lucky", I automatically go back to October 1983 (when I was just 13 years old), and remember the girl whom I really liked at the time, named Karen Campbell.

In fact, when I heard the song "Just Got Lucky" one night on the radio back then, I even imagined spending a day with Karen at a park the following spring (in 1984) at a park in Karen's neighbourhood.

Unfortunately, I had a major problem with shyness back then (and growing up with a mother who was a borderline psychopath who always instigated heated verbal tirades with my father did little to help matters any); and, in the end, I wound up prematurely giving up on my romantic pursuit of Karen.

I only imagine if that girl was someone like Amanda Lofland in Denver, Colorado, USA [I live in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada (suburban Toronto), by the way] back then. The sad reality is I already crossed paths with a similar girl a year before in 1982 named Kim Freeland. If only Kim Freeland could have been able to make me look inside my heart back when I was 12 years old; what a difference it would have made in my life. (But, at least Amanda Lofland finally succeeded in doing this to me, three months before my 40th birthday in March 2010.) smilie

MessageI have loved"Just Got Lucky" since it was first released so i am happy to see the song have a resurgence 20 years later. You should be very proud that your infectious beat has that type of staying power. i lost track of you guys for a minute but play your song for many. Sadly, i can claim to be a fan but I am still getting acquainted with your catalogue. I look forward to getting to know a lot more about you. I guess better late than never smilie
