MessageI was stationed in the 46th Air Refueling Sq. 2/82 - 12/84. Bob Labo was my Chief Boom. Great people there at K.I. Sawyer... I am a native californian but I did enjoy the snow..

MessageRE: 2006-09-12 guest book entry:Elliot Klemens-I googled the "wonder hut" at Sawyer and saw your msg. I am doing research for a friend about the wonder hut- he worked on it too! Probably knew your dad.
Anyone with photos of this building, inside or out may contact me. My research is to surprise a friend in his honor, he played a major role in the building of this facility. I am very interested in anyone who participated in its creation.

MessageI was born on KI in '72. I also just returned today from a trip to the base with mixed emotions. i hate using the word decay, but it seems that's the way everyone describes my birth place these days.

why are we letting this beautiful place go to shit?...why cant we use this place for helping hard working americans, or wounded veterans?....instead of drug dealing rednecks?

-just a question.

is there any hope?

MessageI was born at KI Sawyer AFB Hospital in 1969. I am always thrilled when I find someone who has actually heard of it. I have not been back to Michigan since 1972 but I would love to visit the museum and see my roots.

MessageI was a dental officer at K.I.Sawyer from July,1961 to July,1964. My wife and I loved being there and had some great friends on base. My son was born in the base hospital so his birh place is listed as Sands. We lived in Gwinn for one year and moved on base to Falcon St. where we stayed for two happy years.
Are hats or shirts or jackets that say K.I.Sawyer AFB available at the museum?
